The Life and Mind Building (LaMB) is the largest building project the University has ever undertaken, with a total area of 25,000 m2 and a cost of £200m. Jointly the Departments of Biology and Experimental Psychology are seeking an experienced professional to provide excellent building and facilities planning, implementation and ongoing management for this new, complex, multidisciplinary research and teaching facility due to open in late 2024.

**About the role**

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to lead a dedicated, professional support team to develop the facilities and building operations within world-leading teaching and research departments. This is a broad ranging, key senior role with a variety of responsibilities. You will be required to take the building through the final stages of construction to handover, occupation and then the ongoing running of the building to maintain knowledge and understanding of the building operation and of the research groups within it. Services and systems will require developing and refining overtime to ensure that the evolving needs of the building occupiers are met.

**About you**

To be successful in this role you will have demonstrable and significant experience of building and facilities management at a senior level, including experience of project management in a scientific environment, an understanding of engineering infrastructure in scientific facilities and knowledge and commitment to Health and Safety.

In addition to strategic and operational capabilities, you will have strong interpersonal skills and the collaborative mindset to operate across a complex multi-stakeholder environment. You will have excellent leadership skills and the ability to recognise and respond to the diverse needs of research groups to ensure smooth building operation and effective service delivery. You will need to have strong IT skills as well as being analytically minded with excellent problem solving skills.
