An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Clinical Practice Education Team. General Surgery are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to support all new starters in particularly international nurses and preceptee nurses. The post holder will be responsible for welcoming new starters into our care group, ensuring they are well supported and competent in the workplace.

To deliver nursing competencies/specific training, assessment and support for Registered Nurses and non-trained staff in the care group in order to maintain a skilled and competent workforce fit for purpose.
To liaise with the care group ward managers / Matrons and the Learning and Development Service to support the assessment and education of Registered Nurses (and where appropriate, non-registered Assistant Practitioners/health care assistants) within Specialist medicine and UEE.
To devise, plan and deliver training programmes as required to support Registered Nurses and non-trained staff during their transition to care group. This will include their induction, Preceptorship and ongoing development needs.
To actively participate in the teaching, delivery and assessment of in house clinical skills required by the areas within the scope of practice.

Promote a commitment towards the development of professional and clinical practice

Working in partnership with the Clinical Matron for General Surgery and Cancer services to provide specialist nurse education

Co-ordinate, facilitate and deliver educational activity and training to other healthcare professionals within the care group.

Liaise with international nurse recruitment team and preceptee team in learning and development

Support and coordinate preceptee nurses, international nurses, and general new starters in the care group

Co-ordinate learning events for the Care Group (Including learning from Incidents, Complaints and Patient Experience)

Contribute to service development, audit, research projects and policy

Ensure compliance with peer review

Actively participate in the clinical care for our patients as a senior nurse
