Kingswood, United Kingdom Milestones Trust Full time

£10.42 per hour + £500 welcome Bonus
16 hours per week

At Milestones Trust we start with the person. We understand that to build the right support for someone, we need to understand their individual care needs, wants, and ambitions and tailor our services to reflect their changing circumstances and desires as they progress through life.

Based in Kingswood, you will be responsible for encouraging and supporting an adult with autism and a learning disability to define and develop his chosen lifestyle, being active and fulfilled in his own home and the community.

We support this gentleman 24-hours a day including sleep-ins, providing person-centred care on a 1:1 basis at all times. This includes support around his home with cleaning and cooking, to arrange and attend appointments and manage his medication to remain healthy, and to work with his family to manage his finances, and ensure he has all he needs to maintain a high quality of life.

You will be working one sleep-in shift per week and this could be on a Tuesday, Wednesday or weekend. Shift times are 11:00 - 23:00 (sleep) 07:00 -11.15am (the following day).

This is a lone-working role and the right person will be self-motivated and able to manage their shift effectively and to communicate professionally both in writing and verbally, including with your team and management, health and social care professionals, and family.

This gentleman would love a personal assistant to join his team who is willing to spend time getting to know and understand him, who is able to gently encourage him to be as independent as possible, and who will engage with his hobbies and interests, like buddleias and butterflies.

While experience working with people with an autistic spectrum condition, who can sometimes express themselves with behaviours that could be considered challenging would be an advantage, it is not essential and we will provide you with the full training for you to carry out your role.

**We want to hear from you if you**:

- Are passionate about helping promote the independence and rights of people with disabilities and safeguarding vulnerable adults from abuse
- Would enjoy supporting this gentleman in all areas of his life, including helping him to maintain his relationship with his family, with regular visits
- Are calm, patient an understanding
- Could support the service by undertaking administrative work like updating paperwork and using Trust IT systems
- To be a driver is desirable but not essential.

At Milestones Trust we recognise that without the hard work, commitment and passion of our staff, we wouldn’t be the charity that we are today. In return, we are committed to rewarding you with a competitive pay and benefits package including:

- 30 days annual leave entitlement
- Company pension scheme, with Milestones matching employee contributions up to 3% to help grow your retirement pot
- Learning and development opportunities to help you to build your career, including a comprehensive induction programme, and the opportunity to undertake further qualifications
- Health Cash Plan on completion of probation giving you access to a minimum of £695 cash back for health treatments e.g. dental, therapies, optical, maternity/paternity, NHS prescriptions etc.
- Generous Occupational Maternity/Paternity pay
- Get paid when you want - access your money as you earn it and request your earnings before payday using Dayforce Wallet
- Access to an Employee Discount Platform from day one, with discounts and cashback for hundreds of retailers
- An employee referral scheme that allows you to earn points that can be converted to cash for family members or friends that you point in Milestones’ direction.

We pride ourselves with being able to offer staff opportunities to develop and progress their careers within the Trust.

For an informal discussion about the job role please contact Claire Webster on 07787 227 876

Milestones Trust is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of all the individuals that it supports, it expects the same commitment from all employees. If successful at interview an enhanced DBS check will take place. (Formerly CRB) A criminal record is not necessarily a barrier to recruitment. Committed to Equality and Diversity for all.
