We are moving into our brand new hospital and an exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated dietetic assistant to join our small, friendly gastroenterology team at Royal Liverpool Hospital site. This post supports the Band 7 and Band 6 Dietitians in providing a service for complex dietetic support to this group of patients, which includes coeliac disease, IBD, Crohn's disease and other gastro related conditions.

We are looking for a dietetic assistant with excellent communication skills, the ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team and experience of working with people with complex nutritional needs.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the gastroenterology dietetic team in delivering services to their patients within the Royal Liverpool Hospital. The role involves:

- Supporting the Dietitians in their assessment, treatment, and review of these complex and varied patients within the service for both inpatients and outpatients.
- Collaborative work with other institutions and community teams to provide seamless care to the busy outpatient caseload.
- Checking nutritional bloods and liaising with General Practitioners under the guidance of the Dietitians.
- Working alongside the Gastroenterology MDT, which includes medical staff, allied health professionals, dietitians and specialist nurses to perform anthropometry, service user feedback and data collection.
- Work alongside the Dietitians in audit work and service improvement.

We provide regular supervision, appraisals, and team meetings. The Gastroenterology Dietetic team are part of a larger dietetic team with regular meetings and opportunity for Continued Professional Development (CPD).

Job Purpose
- To undertake specific skilled support work independently, as identified and demonstrated by the Dietetic staff.
- To accept patients referred by a dietitian and carry own caseload.
- To treat patients according to set treatment protocols, monitoring patient progression, make minor alterations to patient treatment programmes as required.
- Work independently, reporting back patient progress and informing the Dietitian of any problems.
