The Department of Natural Sciences is a large and successful academic unit in the Faculty of Science and Engineering. It is committed to achieving high-quality teaching, research and enterprise. The Department has over 100 members of academic staff and delivers courses to over 1000 students across a diverse suite of programmes. Our facilities are spacious, modern and well equipped, having benefited from significant and on-going investment over recent years.
The Department is innovative in its teaching and offers a successful suite of UG, PGT and Degree Apprenticeship courses in the area of Biology. These include our exciting MSc courses in Conservation Biology, Animal Behaviour and Zoo Conservation Biology as well as BSc (Hons) courses in Microbiology and Molecular Biology, Biology, Animal Behaviour and Conservation and BSc (Hons) Zoology.
This fixed-term post (1.0 FTE, 1 year) involves teaching, assessment, development of teaching materials and student support at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
**Subjects may include, but are not limited to**:
- bioinformatics
- conservation genetics
- population genetics
- DNA barcoding and metabarcoding,
- phylogenetics as related to ecology and conservation science.
The ability to teach coastal ecology would be an advantage but not essential. The post holder should have a doctoral level qualification and experience of teaching would be desirable.
