This is an exciting opportunity to join the Emergency Department team as a Patient Flow Assistant.

The role supports the Nurse and Consultant in Charge with the safe and timely flow of patients through the department.

Please note there is 2 posts available, 1 fulltime permanent and 1 fulltime 12 months fixed term. Working hours cover a 24/7 period so you will be required to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends.

**Job Summary**:
The post holder will be the first point of contact and friendly face for relatives arriving in the Emergency Department. Working in support of, and under the direction of, the Emergency Department Nurse in Charge they will assist in the monitoring and management of patient flow through the department. The post holder will be responsible for timely and effective management of departmental administrative duties.

**Main Duties**:
1.To meet and greet relatives arriving in the Emergency Department providing signposting as appropriate.
2. To answer the phone in the Emergency Department and, under the direction of the nurse in charge, respond to or redirect calls as appropriate.
3. To support the Nurse and Consultant in Charge of the Emergency Department in ensuring effective patient flow.
4. Assist with communication to promote fast patient flow

6. Ensure all patient documentation is scanned, stored and/or destroyed in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
7. In accordance with Trust policies, help to ensure patients’ privacy, dignity, safety, comfort and welfare.
8. Contribute towards creating a high performance, continuously improving environment by being proactive in identifying patient pathway delays and highlighting to the necessary team.
