An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Clinical Physiologist to join our friendly Neurophysiology team as a Band 5 / 6. The department is in the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. This position would be well suited to an individual who is looking to advance their career in Neurophysiology and gain experience in a wide range of diagnostic investigations. This post offers potential to progress to a Band 6 with additional training in more complex investigations.

You should have significant experience as a Clinical Physiologist or equivalent in Neurophysiology with experience at an Associate Clinical Physiologist level as a minimum.

Successful applicants who do not hold the ANS Part 1 examination and / or professional RCCP/HCPC registration will be expected to achieve this within 12 months of starting. Help will be given to successful applicants to achieve ANS Part 1 professional qualification and registration.

PTP students waiting to qualify this year will be given full consideration.

- 37 Hours 30 Minutes/Week

As a Clinical Physiologist you will be involved mainly with EEG investigations:

- Routine EEG
- Sleep and melatonin EEG
- Portable recordings on ITU
- Working towards completion of ANS Part I and professional registration (if not already attained)

**There will also be the opportunity for future training in**:

- Nerve conduction studies
- Ambulatory EEG
- Video-telemetry EEG both in-patient and home video-telemetry
- Intracranial video-telemetry EEG
- PSG and MSLT
- Intra-operative monitoring.

The department is actively involved in student training at STP and apprenticeship levels and you would be expected to be part of this.

Band 5
- Perform a range of complex EEG investigations on patients of all ages from a range of specialities suffering from a wide variety of medical disorders including those, which may be neurological, psychiatric and/or learning difficult in nature.
- This may be in the dedicated environment of the department or in non-dedicated environment i.e., Intensive Therapy Unit at any location within the region.

Band 6
- Performs a range of complex and highly complex diagnostic neurophysiological investigations on

patients of all ages from a range of specialities suffering from a wide variety of medical disorders
including those, which may be neurological, psychiatric and/or learning difficult in nature.
- This may be in the dedicated environment of the department or in a non-dedicated environment

i.e. wards and Intensive Therapy Unit in the Trust or other hospitals in the region.
