We offer an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist to join the adult neuropsychology service at Newcastle Hospitals Foundation NHS trust, based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. This post is funded by the Regional Major Trauma Rehabilitation Service (MTRS) and will provide the psychology service for inpatients on the MTRS ward (10 beds), outpatient follow ups and some time-limited therapy, as well as being responsible for a programme of staff support for colleagues in MTRS. This is a dynamic role that will allow the post holder to work closely with the MDT.

The MTRS operates through a rehabilitation hub to provide multi-disciplinary, coordinated, specialist assessment, acute trauma rehabilitation and community patient/family information and signposting which will is based on the goals identified by the patient and their carers. The service aims to address comprehensive needs for functional and emotional support, information and advice, practical help with vocational issues, housing, benefits and care needs.

- 33 Hours 45 Minutes per a week
- You are someone who is highly motivated to develop their career within the field of health psychology and trauma.
- You will be able to provide excellent psychological assessment and communicate your findings effectively to patients, their families or carer and professional colleagues.
- You will be able to formulate collaboratively, using trauma, adjustment and rehabilitation models and provide time-limited interventions.
- You will be able to foster excellent working relationships within the teams that you work and build rapport quickly with your patients and their families.
- You will be a team player and motivated to contribute to the team’s success, as well as being open and honest about any errors, and any areas of your personal development that require attention.
- You will uphold the high standards of clinical governance in the Trust, being aware and sensitive to issues of risk and patient safety, as well as keeping up to date with relevant local and national policies.
- You will utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.

- Under the clinical leadership of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist to support them in providing a comprehensive psychology service to the team based at RVI Hospital.
- To provide a specialised and experienced clinical psychology service for patients with the most complex /challenging presentations, by assessing and treating own specialist caseload of patient, plus maintaining associated records.
- Provides a qualified specialist clinical Psychology service across all sectors of care; providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapy. Offering advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to colleagues from other disciplines and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.
- To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.
