NELFT would like to introduce the launch of the Intensive Support Team, which aims to support people with a Learning Disability and Autism who requires specialist crisis intervention. We believe that individuals who display challenging behaviours, including those with a mental health condition, should have the same opportunities to live satisfying and valued lives.

The service was developed in response to the best means of supporting our people with a learning disability and autism at a critical time in their journey, offering the least restrictive environment and ensuring that we provide the best response to those users of the service who needs specialist support, together with their carers and families.

The post holder will achieve this by being an effective member of the Medical Secretariat, developing productive working relationships with other team members and developing and demonstrating a sound understanding of the aims and business activities of the Trust.

The post holder will act as the first point of contact for the consultant, including telephone calls from GPs, Consultants from other disciplines, CPNs, other medical/professional staff, coroners’ courts, Magistrates courts, probation service, Solicitors, Social Services, Police etc. and disturbed, distressed, anxious, or abusive patients and their carer's and to deal with such calls courteously, appropriately and efficiently.

You will be required to support and maintain standard systems and processes set out by the Trust.

1. To work flexibly to provide efficient, high-quality secretarial, administrative and support services to their medical colleagues as required and to maintain office cover. This will include typing letters and memoranda, minutes, reports, presentations and audio, etc.
2. To be aware of and compliant with performance indicators as outlined by the service and its targets.
3. To act as minute secretary at meetings/case conferences/working groups etc., when required and to ensure that appropriate administrative follow-up action is taken to avoid delay in ensuring patients receive treatment/medication/changes in medication as quickly as possible.
4. To work closely with the team manager and Consultant in writing reports / sharing patient information for a range of reasons during the user of service’s time within IST.

Probationary Period

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High-Cost Area Supplement - London

This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436).
