You will offer comms advice and support to staff throughout the hospital, and work closely with the media for proactive positive publicity.

You will be part of a small but busy comms team, and will deputise for the Head of Communications in their absence, so you will need to be able to hit the ground running.

Experience of working in an NHS or local authority comms team is preferable. This could be a good opportunity for a secondment as part of your comms career development.

There is the opportunity to work from home, but you will be required to work on the hospital site regularly to carry out your role effectively.

**Digital**: Manage, monitor and evaluate the Trust’s social media activity on a daily basis, identifying trends and sharing appropriate intelligence. Respond to any comments or requests in a timely way and make sure any issues are dealt with or escalated if necessary.

Plan, create and deploy social media content to support Trust announcements, public statements, events and initiatives - including graphics, photos and videos.

Use online social media management platforms to schedule content, working with the Head of Communications and Communications and Engagement Group to identify key communications activities.

Evaluate the Trust’s social media following, targeting appropriate new followers and monitoring the outputs of key partners and other NHS organisations, showing support where appropriate.

Generate engaging content using a wide range of creative approaches including video, graphics and other visual techniques which capture attention quickly and simply explain often complex messages.

Work with custodians of authorised devolved social media accounts within the Trust, supervising their work and ensuring that they are managing those accounts appropriately.

Take a proactive role in finding new ways to reach different audiences to communicate effectively with staff and stakeholders.

Highlight any copyright or data protection issues with Head of Communications.

Generate ideas and coordinate the development of digital innovation. Contribute clear, accurate and engaging digital content.

Manage and develop the Trust’s public website and internal intranet (StaffNet).

Be the Information Asset Administrator (IAA) for the Trust’s website and intranet.

Regularly review web content for relevance and timeliness, and liaise with web authors to ensure they keep pages they maintain up to date.

Use analytical tools to monitor use of the website and intranet and produce usage statistics.

Work with Trust departments not represented on website or intranet to develop content.

**Design**: Produce a range of graphic design work for digital and print use.

Work within and advise on national and local NHS identity guidelines.

Design materials using the Trust’s visual identity, including e-newsletters, printed newsletters, posters and presentations.

To produce, proof-read and edit copy for internal and external communications and publications, translating complex messages into plain language.

Provide advice and guidance to departments and colleagues on good design principles and the importance of following visual identity guidelines.

Produce reports/analytics around use of our social media pages and website.

**Media**: Work closely with press and media partners building constructive relationships, co-ordinating responses, briefing journalists and preparing spokespeople for interviews with the aim of protecting the reputation of the organisation.

Liaise with media for proactive positive publicity to support online activity and manage press conferences, photo calls and visits in liaison with the Head of Communications.

Provides briefing on sensitive and complex issues to the Head of Communications and other senior trust staff including the Chief Executive on issues that could be picked up by national press.
