**About the Role**:
As a Communications Assistant, you will support the Communication & Engagement team, a centralised function responsible for building and maintaining the council’s reputation, supporting strategic objectives, and engaging with various stakeholders.
**Day-to-Day Duties**:
- Oversee corporate social media channels, create engaging content, and support colleagues with best practices.
- Deliver and evaluate integrated communications campaigns that align with the council’s objectives, including media relations, digital marketing, public events, residents' magazine, and more.
- Develop and deliver engaging content, ensuring it is accurate, high-quality, and in line with the Council's brand guidelines.
- Support media activity, build media relationships, and coordinate responses to media enquiries.
- Monitor and evaluate the success of communications and marketing activities, recommending continuous improvements.
- Contribute to the council’s communications forward planning process.
- Comply with council decisions, policies, and statutory requirements, including the Code of Recommended Practice on Local Authority Publicity.
- Support emergency and critical incident communications procedures.
- Manage budgets effectively, ensuring value for money.
- Act as an ambassador for communications and marketing, representing the council internally and externally.
**Requirements and Qualifications**:
- Experience in a communications or a similar role.
- Strong skills in social media management, content creation, and digital marketing.
- Excellent copywriting, editing, and content development skills, including photography, audio, and video.
- Experience in monitoring and evaluating communication campaigns.
- Strong organisational and budget management skills.
- Travel flexibility for occasional meetings, training, and networking events.
- A proactive and enthusiastic approach to representing the council.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Temporary contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: £13.69 per hour
Expected hours: 22.00 per week
