Outpatient Practice Educator

The post holder will lead, facilitate and champion the provision of all clinical and non
- clinical education and training for nursing and admin colleagues working in the outpatient directorate; supporting department managers to ensure that staff achieve 100% compliance with any Trust mandatory training.
The post holder will support the directorate department managers to review and manage workforce skills gaps and support staff to achieve their full potential.
The post holder will support the directorate to achieve agreed education and training objectives for the OPD directorate. This will include ensuring that all new staff have an appropriate induction and probationary programme that is tailored to meet the skills requirements to carry out job roles.
Working together with the department managers, matron and general manager; the post holder will plan and implement the annual directorate training and education; to ensure that outpatients is staffed by the right person, in the right place at the right time, with the right skills, competence and knowledge.
The post holder will have clinical experience working and managing teams in outpatient settings
Demonstrate and role model the Trust Values to “Put the patient first, To Go see, to stand in the patients shoes and Do the Must Do’s” to cultivate “One Culture of Care” ethos
To support Department Managers, Matron & General Manager in leading and developing the education and training strategy of outpatient staff across clinical and non-clinical roles
Demonstrate inclusive, compassionate leadership and work alongside staff to promote and coaching/enable them to achieve the right skills and knowledge to be able to carry out their job role and any tasks competently.
To facilitate and teach any training and education relevant for outpatient services
To deliver training/ evidence-based teaching as required/ requested by department managers
To support a clinical supervision framework
Maintenance of general training records (in ESR and on Outpatient Education Shared Drive).
Ability to self-manage time with the ability to work independently or as part of a diverse team.
Encourage and foster one culture of care that supports learning from adverse events, near misses or incidents and provides relevant training and support when required.
Demonstrate ability to work across the Outpatient Directorate Departments.
Support the departmental managers with the appraisal season (as required).
To work alongside pre and post registered learners in the clinical environment to enable learning and assessments in practice; whilst maintaining own skills and clinical credibility.
We employ more than 6,500 staff who deliver compassionate care from our two main hospitals, Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary as well as in community sites, health centres and in patients’ homes. We also are incredibly proud to have almost 150 volunteers here at CHFT.
We provide a range of services including urgent and emergency care; medical; surgical; maternity; gynaecology; critical care; children’s and young people’s services; end of life care and outpatient and diagnostic imaging services.
We provide community health services, including sexual health services in Calderdale from Calderdale Royal and local health centres. These include Todmorden Health Centre and Broad Street Plaza.

Professional knowledge has been acquired through degree and supplemented by specialised training (for example educational qualification)
The post holder will understand the differing education needs for clinical and admin roles
Support and mentor students whilst on placement.
Take responsibility for own continuing professional development and performance, including identifying own development needs and maintaining a personal portfolio in accordance with re-registration requirements.
Is proactive in the supervision and teaching of colleagues in the multi-professional team
Is an effective role model/educator to nursing/admin colleagues and medical staff.
Support training or enable access to mandatory training updates.
Support the training needs of the departments, acting as a resource for educational enquires.
Act as the OPD Directorate education resource for staff in relating to any mandatory training requirements as well as any directorate educational needs
