We have the amazing opportunity to recruit 2 Grade 9 Rangers to join the existing highly skilled and passionate Ranger team at Dunham Massey. Both roles will initially be on a 2-year fixed-term contract with the potential to go permanent. We are looking for experienced Rangers who already have the skills, passion, and knowledge to deliver high levels of nature conservation. To recognise the cost-of-living crisis and to ensure we get the best people, both roles will be advertised at mid-point of the salary band and not the bottom of the band.

This would be a great secondment opportunity for existing Rangers who may be looking for a new challenge with ample opportunity. NB: if you are thinking of a secondment, please do discuss it first with your current line manager.

What it's like to work here:Dunham Massey is a 3,000-acre estate situated approximately 10 miles south of central Manchester and three miles south of Altrincham. Roger Grey, 10th Earl of Stamford, gave it to the National Trust in 1976 and today it attracts over 500,000 visitors a year. This elegant Georgian mansion, set within a magnificent 300-acre deer park and including one of Britain’s finest winter gardens. Within the park walls there is also a shop, café, restaurant and ice cream parlour. On the wider estate, there are 16 farms, 100 cottages, and a golf course.

**Future Dunham Massey Programme**

Due to the size of the estate, and its proximity to a catchment of 6.2 million people within 50 minutes’ drive, it offers a huge verity of opportunity to deliver for People, Nature, and History on a landscape scale. Therefore, we have officially launched the Future Dunham Massey Programme. The programme of works will run for approximately 15 to 20 years to deliver wholesale change for the entire property. The Future Dunham Massey Programme incorporates 3 different streams of work:
**- Brilliant Basics**
- Gold standard access, welcoming visit, clean & tidy facilities, minimum standards of conservation, etc.

**- Inside the Park Walls**
- Ancient & Veteran tree management, deer management, acidic grassland restoration, bog and mire improvements, historic landscape setting, rare deadwood beetle management, pond improvements, access, etc.

**- Outside the Park Walls**
- Creation of Woodlands, hedgerows, ponds, wetland site, species rich meadows and High Nature Status Farming, multiuser access paths, and historic landscape settings.

What you'll be doing:You’ll help with the protection and care of habitats, wildlife and property, your passion will inspire other to love this beautiful place. You’ll share our common goal with customers and build relationships in the local community, proudly representing the National Trust.

You’ll also share and promote the work that we do here, ensuring special places like these are here to be both protected and enjoyed by everyone for ever. This will see you responding to queries and explaining the value of the work being undertaken. After all, your passion and dedication could fire the imagination that makes a visitor become a supporter for the rest of their life.

In this role, you’ll work some weekends, bank holidays and evenings.

**Who we're looking forYou’ll need to;**
- Deliver practical conservation work to protect and enhance the conservation status of the property
- Be an excellent team player, Help create a great place to work, sharing common goals
- Be able to work safely, with risk assessments and compliance with safety procedures
- Have experience in a land, access and conservation management
- Be competent with machinery and equipment as well as having the relevant certificates required
- Have a full UK driving licence.
