**Job summary**:
The Personnel Vetting Records Officer (PVRO) position is situated within the Sy team of a busy operational Headquarters, that is also a High-Level Budget, a Front-Line Command and a MOD Directorate. The demanding and operational nature of the Headquarters means that this role will require a significant level of flexibility and professionalism. This post provides an excellent opportunity for commencing and developing an exciting and challenging career within the Ministry of Defence and Civil Service.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

**Job description**:
An opportunity to join a busy operational Security team as the PVRO. The PVRO position has responsibility for supporting the delivery of the vetting and screening for a 2* HQ. Focused on protecting all staff and contractors within the establishment from threats, including terrorism, espionage, sabotage, subversion and organised crime (TESSOC). Skills needed include interpersonal, communication, analytical and personnel management skills.

Working in the Sy team you will be part of a busy, dedicated and professional team. This post has individual responsibility for delivering security vetting and screening check service. In addition, the post holder will work with a wide range of internal and external security and intelligence staff whilst providing guidance and advice on all personnel security and vetting matters in the HQ.

Responsibilities include:

- Provision of direct personnel security support to the Sy team to mitigate and counter TESSOC threats and insider risk.
- Deliver an effective vetting and screening service.
- Collation, verifying and processing of Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and vetting documents and corresponding security clearance documentation.
- Check and verify security questionnaire documentation, identity documents and investigate discrepancies.
- Liaise with United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and other Security and Intelligence stakeholders on Personnel Security and clearance matters.
- Ensure that security vetting casework is managed in accordance with priorities
- Manage the impact of UKSV Security Restriction requirements and advice the Sy Team accordingly.
