British Transport Police are currently recruiting for **3 permanent Vetting Officers** paying **£32,757.33 **plus **£3033.56** **London Allowance **per annum, based at our **Force Headquarters, London.**

BTP is the national police force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing.

As a **Vetting Officer** with BTP, you will undertake vetting for all levels of Police Officers and Police Staff, both internal and incoming, within the framework of the Force Vetting Policy.

As a **Vetting Officer, **you** **will be required to:

- Conduct vetting for all levels of Police Officers and Police Staff including contractors, subcontractors and agency staff engaged by BTP and to advise on the suitability for employment or continued employment.
- Identify, investigate and assess any matter relating to the applicants suitability for employment or continued employment which may be a potential threat to security.
- Make decisions on the information found and whether further research is required and provide a report regarding concerns.
- Conduct vetting interviews with internal and external vetting applicants.
- Oversee self-declaration process and follow-upon known risk cases.

The successful **Vetting Officers **will be required to evidence the following:

- Previous experience of working within a regulatory framework.
- Ability to maintain a high level of diplomacy, tact and discretion in the managing of sensitive and confidential information.
- Proven research and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
