The Primary Care Mental Health Service works closely with GPs to promote early assessment, treatment and/or onward referral in the community. We support individuals to focus on achievable goals and access local community resources, to help the individual manage their mental health more effectively.

We are looking to recruit a new Senior Peer Support Worker to join our Peterborough team,

Peer Support Workers have their own experiences of mental health challenges and will have accessed health services themselves. Our Peer support workers draw on their training and lived experience to support individuals in the community with identified goals.

You will receive professional development in the form of regular supervision, attendance at peer professional days and training opportunities

As an integral & highly valued member of the multi-disciplinary team, the senior PSW will coordinate & provide formalised peer support, to help peers regain control over their lives & their own unique recovery process.

They will provide a recovery focused approach to peers referred to the team, ensuring transition into the third sectors & community resources where appropriate.

Through sharing wisdom from own lived experience, to inspire hope & belief that recovery is possible in others. Within a relationship of mutuality, facilitate & support information sharing to promote choice, self-determination & opportunities for the fulfilment of socially valued roles & connection to local communities.

They will take a lead role in embedding recovery values within the wider mental health system & community.

They will coordinate & supervise PSWs within the PCMHS team & coordinate the referrals that PCMHS receive in partnership with the team managers.

- To role model personal responsibility, self-awareness, self-belief, advocacy, wellness planning and hopefulness via the telling of own recovery story to inspire and instill confidence in peers.
- To monitor the performance, offer guidance and support to the Peer Support Workers in the team, under the direction of the Team Manager. This will include providing supervision with support from the Team manager.
- To, in partnership with the team manager, monitor PSW mandatory training and training for the role.
- In partnership with the team manager and admin, to prepare reports on the service and ensure data/information is collated and presented in a formal manner. Maintain training for peer support workers helping them understand the evaluation of audits and information needed.
- With the team managers, play a lead role in the development of the PSW team and the role of the PSW. Promote and encourage the development of the peer support initiatives.
- To support with the recruitment process of the peer support workers and provide expertise, knowledge, and experience to aid this process.
- To work in partnership with other agencies to gain the best person

centred / recovery outcomes for the individual. To assist peer to make connections within third sector organisation and the wider community encouraging them to make contact and providing assistance if necessary.
- To have experience and specialist knowledge of available interventions and resources provided to meet the differing needs of people receiving services.
- To coordinate the referrals from PCMHS and allocate accordingly in partnership with the Team manager.
- To manage a caseload of peers that may have more complex goals and needs, and attend relevant training to achieve this.
- Help individuals identify their own achievable recovery goals and set recovery objectives, drawing on your mutual resources as peers utilizing a range of recovery tools, techniques and experience.
- To help people receiving services and their carers utilize their existing Wellness Plan and advanced directions within the next stage of their recovery journey.
- Work in a way that acknowledges the personal, social, cultural and spiritual strengths and needs of the individual, maintain a focus on the rights of the Peer at all times.
