We are looking for a part time administrator for the Laboratory of Viral Zoonotics lead by Professor Jonathan Heeney. The research focuses on transmission of viruses, the co-evolution of viruses and their hosts including evolution of immune mechanisms of disease, disease resistance and prevention with a focus on the development of vaccines.

This interesting role will provide administrative support for the day-to-day operations of the research group. The role involves being the first point of contact between the Head of LVZ, the Research Co-ordinator, students and staff and will involve communicating regularly with staff in the LVZ, liaising regularly with departmental colleagues such as Accounts, Finance and Research Operations.

Applicants should have experience of organising and scheduling meetings. Meetings will need to be organised within the LVZ team, with other academic institutions, external organisations/providers and funding organisations. The applicant should have an awareness of collaborations with other institutions worldwide and will assist with co-ordinating projects.

Record keeping is a key aspect of the role including maintaining records relating to PhD students, visiting researchers, interns and staff.

Applicants should be an experienced administrator, educated to at least A Level standard or equivalent standard/NVQ level 3 or equivalent level of practical experience. Competence in standard software packages e.g. Word, Excel, Access and Outlook is essential. You will also need excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise your own workload, and excellent communication skills.
