An excellent opportunity for a Maintenance Operative to join a well established business that operates a successful maintenance service for older people in Newcastle upon Tyne.

**Company**

My client is an independent, family owned care provider who has been providing quality care in Newcastle upon Tyne for over 33 years.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and organised Maintenance Operative to join our team in order to complete necessary work required both in our residential care home and also for our older customers who live within the local area. The nature of this work could include painting and decorating, gardening, the installation of safety features such as grab rails etc. basic joinery or plumbing.

**Duties**:

- Carry out a variety of maintenance tasks both within our residential care home and also in our customers own homes, to a very high standard.
- Complete and record appropriately all essential safety checks required in our care home and our other premises.
- Report any defects/ essential repairs immediately in order to assist with scheduling work effectively.
- Work closely with the Services Coordinator in order to prioritise and manage all work effectively.
- Assist with providing quotations for our community customers.
- Follow an electronic field work diary and work to a schedule.
- Check that the vehicles and equipment are in good working order, stored correctly and report any problems to the relevant person in a timely manner.
- Adhere to strict health and safety regulations at all times.
- Play an active part in our rapidly growing community service business.
- Be a valuable part of the wider team to ensure the best customer experience possible.

**Experience/ Qualities/Skills**:

- At least one years experience in a similar role. Skills to include: decorating, gardening, basic joinery and plumbing.
- A good knowledge of the local area.
- May be required to lift, pull and push heavy items in line with health and safety policy and therefore must be able to work in a physically demanding role.
- Be willing to undergo suitable training relevant to the the role and growth of the business.
- Strong interpersonal and working relationship skills.
- Thorough and particular attention to detail.
- Competent at completing essential paperwork relevant to the role and health and safety.
- A pleasant and amiable demeanour is essential to this role.
