Paediatric Lead

As Paediatric Lead you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of Paediatric Assessments within the organisation and will work with the Assessment Manager, Admin Manager and Admin Team to ensure the targets are met for these assessment types. This role will be the point of contact for the Assessment Team in relation to all paediatric assessment activity. The post holder will ensure that assessments are completed, and reports are generated efficiently and accurately and will deal with queries from external organisations and referrers. The post holder will be responsible for the vetting for paediatric referrals.
**Location**
To be based at an RDAC location. Occasional home working in line with organisational needs and only in agreement with the Chief Operating Officer. You will also be required to travel to other RDAC Centres to conduct Paediatric Assessments.
**Hours**
Full time and Part time hours considered.
**Key accountabilities and duties**
- Complete the vetting for all Paediatric Assessments across RDAC.
- Work with the Assessment Managers, Administration Manager and Administration Team to ensure all Paediatric diary slots are filled and activity is maximised.
- Liaise with the Assessment Manager and Chief Operating Officer to ensure that activity targets are being met.
- Act as the point of contact for the assessment team on Paediatric Assessments and deal with queries relating to clients and assessments.
- Act as the point of contact for referrers and stakeholders and offer advice and deal with queries relating to Paediatric Assessments.
- Ensure reports are completed accurately and in a timely manner and all relevant assessment information is recorded following RDAC and Driving Mobility standards.
- Provide the Assessment Manager and Chief Operating Officer with a weekly update on activity completed.
- To be responsible for CPD and keeping up to date with current knowledge and advances in OT practice.
- To be familiar with the assessment techniques used by Driving Mobility and to use these techniques when assessing.
- To be aware of the legal issues surrounding transport and advise clients accordingly.
- To undertake assessments and provide advice to clients and their carers on the suitability of vehicles and vehicle equipment and adaptations.
- To undertake specific service developments and evaluation of the service as agreed with the Assessment Manager or the Chief Operations Officer.
- To obtain any relevant information required before assessments take place from all relevant health professionals.
- To liaise with other professionals who may need to be involved in the assessment such as medical practitioners, psychologist, etc, and make referral as necessary.
- To liaise with external agencies where appropriate.
- To assist in the planning and delivery of talks and training courses offered by RDAC and Driving Mobility in relation to paediatric services.
- To keep up to date with innovations in equipment, methods of assessment and appropriate provision.
- Adhere to RCOT and HCPC policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all Centre and Driving Mobility policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Assess clients considering their function, disability, and health.
- Agree, plan, and carry out intervention in conjunction with client, carers, and other agencies.
- To ensure all interventions provided are evidence based, evaluated, reviewed.
- Keep records and statistics in accordance with RDAC and Driving Mobility standards and procedures.
- To advise the Assessment Manager or the Chief Operations Officer of any circumstances which give cause for concern in relation to client care, contracts, or commissioned services.
- To attend and actively participate in meetings as a representative of the organisation.
- To be responsible for maintaining qualification as an Occupational Therapist.
- Within 5 years of employment, to complete the Professional or Post-graduate certificate in Driving Assessment and Outdoor Mobility (accredited by the Oxford Brooks University).
- Participate in supervision and appraisal systems.
- Willing and able to participate in mandatory training, in-service and team development/service development activities.
- To contribute to/develop/key role in supervision of students, junior staff, and other personnel on secondment.
- To be involved in research and audit as required.
- To lead on key development programme as agreed by the Assessment Manager and Chief Operating Officer.
- The post holder is actively encouraged to participate in specialist groups and undertake courses provided through Driving Mobility.
