We are looking for an experienced Talent Acquisition Lead to join our highly successful Talent Acquisition team
- This is an exciting opportunity to work across emergency services and to lead a team that are delivering recruitment solutions to North Yorkshire Police (NYP), North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (NYFRS) and York & North Yorkshire Combined Authority (YNYCA). Our Talent Acquisition team are passionate, forward thinking and thrive on providing a seamless & exceptional service for attraction, selection and onboarding.
- As a Talent Acquisition Lead you will be responsible for motivating, coaching and developing a team of Recruiters & Administrators who are delivering resourcing strategies for both high volume and specialist roles.
***Key Responsibilities**:
- Ensure workforce plans are fulfilled for both NYP & NYFRS, including adherence to key deadlines and agreed recruitment schedules (this includes operational roles, staff and volunteers)
- Handle complex queries and escalations when necessary and ensure effective learning outcomes.
- Ensure robust quality assurance measures are in place in relation to our processes and procedures.
- Develop talent acquisition strategies to ensure the effective sourcing, attraction, assessment and on-boarding of a diverse range of talent.
- Ensure a thorough and rigorous approach to pre-employment clearances (e.g., vetting, DBS, references) and ensure contractual documentation is produced to a high standard.
- Provide expert advice, guidance, and support to a team of Recruiters and Hiring Managers.
- Work alongside Talent & Development colleagues on specific Talent Acquisition value added projects.
- Work closely with our Talent & Diversity Lead, to drive diversity and inclusion throughout the recruitment, assessment, and on-boarding process.
- Attend key internal meetings (often with senior stakeholders), chair team meetings and represent the Talent team at external meetings and engagement with the public.

- Proven leadership experience is essential. We are looking for a resilient and organised leader who can support the team in managing competing priorities, high workloads and adherence to deadlines.
- A proactive and solutions focused approach is key, along with a genuine passion for continuous improvement. We are looking for a leader that will encourage others to be creative, innovative and inquisitive in their approach.
- Applicants should have experience within recruitment, either from an agency or In-house environment, experience of managing an onboarding process is also desirable. The successful postholder will be responsible for ensuring all pre-employment checks are in line with policies and procedures. Attention to detail is therefore essential.
- The successful postholder will have strong interpersonal skills to allow the development of credible relationships with partners and stakeholders at all levels. Strong initiative and excellent decision-making skills are essential to be successful in this role.
