Warden - Private Halls of Residence

**Job Purpose**
As part of the Community Building strand you will be responsible for working closely with your Site team and the Events Co-ordinator to ensure there is a thriving events calendar that reflects the needs and interests of your student community.
You will work closely with the team on site to support events, offer regular drop-in information sessions and events. You will be point of contact and link between the site and the University. You will act as the face of the University and will signpost students to University services and supports.
You will attend regular meetings with the Wider Residence Life warden team.
**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. To be a first point of contact to support on colleagues on site to respond to behaviour and welfare on site.
2. To ensure you collaborate with your site has to develop a thriving and active events and activities program that reflects the need and interests of the student community.
3. To keep in regular contact with your line manager and ensure you are aware of when to escalate issues.
4. To keep in regular contact with and build strong communication structures between the Site Management team.
5. To be up to date and familiar with the Residence Contract terms and conditions, University Policies and Disciplinary Code and to ensure appropriate discipline is maintained within the residence alerting appropriate others when needs dictate.
6. This is a new role and a new team so you will have responsibilities around developing processes and resources which support the team to function effectively.
7. To carry out such other duties as the Line Manager may allocate to them from time to time.
On-call and serious or emergency situations;
8. Respond appropriately to emergency or serious incidents, (such as student death, mental / physical health crisis or hospitalisation)
9. Provide short-term cover to other Res life Wardens to cover sickness and annual leave if needed.
**Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills & Experience**
**Knowledge/Qualifications**
**Essential**:
A1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role OR Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 5 or 6 (National 5 or 6, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 2 or 3) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role.
A2 Knowledge and understanding of experiences of students living in halls of residence or young people living away from home for the first time.
A3 Knowledge of how mental health and wellbeing impacts young people.
A4 Ability to demonstrate an understanding of how to create strong and cohesive relationships.
A5 Knowledge and experience of using Office 365 software.

E1 Experience in coaching, training, mentoring, leading project or pieces of work, or providing guidance and direction to adults, young people or peers.
E2 Experience in managing a diverse workload and competing demands.
**Terms and Conditions**
Salary will be Honorarium and Rent Rebate
This post is part-time (15 hours per week), term time only, and fixed term up to 12 months.
