This is a great opportunity to lead a dynamic team of Residence Assistance student volunteers and build a robust team responsive to the needs of the MSSV student residents. This role will develop your leadership skills, strengthen, and enhance your existing skills in communication and will enable you to build a strong CV that reflects your ability to work within a diverse team. You will be line managed by the Student Life Manager.

**Only full time registered or prospective University of Glasgow students or employees of the University of Glasgow are eligible to apply.**

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. Responsible for overseeing behaviour and welfare of students at MSSV.
2. To be a first point of contact in relation to behaviour and welfare on site.
3. To mentor, train and support student volunteers to create a robust Residence Life Team.
4. To play a key role in the design and delivery of the Residence Assistant annual training program.
5. Facilitate regular team meetings and supervision to support development of team.
6. To manage and plan team rotas and ensure the site has adequate accessibility to the Residence Life team and to provide cover for ‘on call’ duties if needed.
7. To keep in regular contact with your line manager and attend regular training and team meetings.
8. To work closely with the MSSV site and accommodation teams.
9. To work closely with Central Residence Life team, University Safeguarding and Security Teams
10. To keep in regular contact with and build strong communication structures between your Resident Assistants team and the Site Management team.
11. To build strong working relationships Security teams.
12. To be aware of the differing escalation routes and feel confident in knowing how, where and when to escalate issues.
13. To be up to date with the Residence Life Handbook, the Site A-Zed as well as be familiar with the Residence Contract terms and conditions, University Policies and Disciplinary Code and to ensure appropriate discipline is maintained within the residence alerting appropriate others when needs dictate.
On-call and serious or emergency situations
14. Respond appropriately to emergency or serious incidents, (such as student death, mental / physical health crisis or hospitalisation) and ensure that Emergency services, Health and Welfare Team, Safeguarding and Security team are informed.
11. Provide short-term cover to other Wardens to cover sickness and annual leave.
12. Carry out such other duties as the Line Manager may allocate to them from time to time.

**Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience**

**Knowledge & Qualifications**

**Essential**:

A1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role OR Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 5 or 6 (National 5 or 6, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 2 or 3) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role.
A2 Knowledge and understanding of experiences of students living in halls of residence or young people living away from home for the first time.
A3 Knowledge of how mental health and wellbeing impacts young people.
A4 Knowledge of how to use Office 365 software.
A5 Knowledge of the role social media platforms play in University life.

**Desirable**:

B1 Understanding of University of Glasgow and external support services.

**Terms and Conditions**
Salary will be Honorarium and Rent Rebate.
This post is fixed term for 9 months in the first instance and part-time (9 hours per week), term time only. Flex
