The Gerald Eve Rating Team, is a team of around 60 people and is based across our network of regional offices and London. The teams in London specialise in particular commercial property sectors, such as retail, shops and restaurants, offices, industrial, leisure or specialist. Whilst in the regional you tend to cover the majority of property sectors. The Rating Team are leading advisors in the areas of business rates representing 40% of the FTSE top 100 companies. The team is passionate about providing exceptional client care which has led to long established relationships with our clients.

You will most likely be sat with a Partner, Associate, a Senior Surveyor and potentially another apprentice. You will be supported to get involved with a variety of work and property types such as retail (shops and restaurants) offices, industrial (warehouse and distribution units, leisure (pubs, hotels, nightclubs and visitor attractions) and specialist (schools, universities and hospitals) in order to provide you with a broad experience and training. The team are used to getting colleagues trained and RICS qualified through their commitment to individuals’ personal development.

Apprenticeship

This role will entail working alongside studying, completing a BSc in Real Estate via the University College of Estate Management (UCEM) under the Apprenticeship scheme. You will be on a 5-day week contract, but one of these days will be dedicated to your studies and the remainder will be in the office. Rather than attending formal lectures or classes, you will study using UCEM’s state-of-the-art online learning environment and digital library, supported with guidance from highly experienced tutors.

Upon completion of the BSc (Hons) Real Estate Management and the structured workplace learning you will undertake the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence leading to registration with the RICS as a Chartered Surveyor under the Minerals and Waste pathway.

We support our Apprentices in gaining the relevant competencies required for their Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) as part of the end point assessment to becoming RICS qualified. Apprentices can only commence recording their APC from the beginning of year 3.

**Job Description**:
The role covers a wide geographical spread, so you will inspect properties predominantly in the area/region in which the Gerald Eve office is based. You will deal with a range of interesting and varied property types as previously mentioned. You will learn in a multi-disciplinary team dealing with a wide variety of property issues including valuation, landlord & tenant, business rates, dispute resolution, compensation and compulsory purchase.

Main responsibilities
- Assisting with property inspections and preparing inspection notes
- Arranging and coordinating site inspections
- Researching comparable evidence
- Drafting valuations
- Preparing rating submissions and Appeals
- Assisting in the preparation of evidence for tribunal hearings and third-party referrals
- Preparing client reports
- Working with cross departmental teams servicing national portfolios
- Use good organisational skills to manage and prioritise a busy and developing caseload
- Completing and delivering academic work in a timely basis meeting program requirements
- Develop and maintain a strong network of internal and external contacts and to use these contacts in order to further develop business for the team.

About you
- A genuine interest in the commercial property market.
- IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel competencies.
- Well organised, efficient, using initiative and working to tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, coupled with an eye for detail.
- A commitment to excellence and developing strong client relationships.
- Able to work flexibly between tasks and prioritise workload.
- A full driving licence (preferable) and willing to work nationally and occasionally work away from home.
