**Job summary**:
The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) Commercial Grants Cell operates to help improve grant making through the provision of collaborative support to DLUHC and its partners, driving quality and innovation, reducing risk and delivering sustainable commercial outcomes.

Operating as a consulting disrupter and acting as a critical friend, the team provides appropriate challenge and commitment to excellence aiming to collectively improve the quality of DLUHC grants, through innovation and collaboration.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Commercial Grants Cell that will help us deliver those funds efficiently and effectively to where they are most needed.

You will work across a diverse portfolio of funds linked to key DLUHC and Government priorities on Levelling Up and Regeneration, Building Safety, Homelessness and Rough Sleeping, Housing, Local Government and Planning Reform, using your commercial acumen to support the design, assessment, delivery, and monitoring of funds working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders within DLUHC and from Other Government Departments. You will also provide direct commercial support to grant recipients through a hands-on advisory and support role to enable project delivery across procurement and thematic areas.

You will also contribute to the development of the commercial approach for future investment programmes in line with the Government’s Functional Standards for Grants. You will be part of an inclusive, collaborative Commercial directorate that strives to embed commercial best practice and efficiencies throughout the department.

**Job description**:
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advice, support and guidance in the development, design and delivery of DLUHC investments and funds to meet policy objectives whilst being fair and providing value for money.
- Assessment of revenue and capital project proposals to determine deliverability, including assessment of financial, commercial, management, and monitoring and evaluation cases.
- Provide clear evidence at moderation sessions to underpin recommendations for how funding should be allocated between projects against the programme objectives in order to deliver the greatest possible impact and achieve the intended outcomes as well as delivering value for money.
- Support robust performance monitoring, management and evaluation processes for resulting grant agreements.
- Work directly with DLUHC fund recipients to provide advice, support and guidance on the ongoing deliverability of their project including support on thematic areas such as financial, commercial, procurement, management, business plans, and monitoring and evaluation cases.
- Share and promote best practices and lessons learned to create a culture of learning and good practice that supports continuous improvement to optimise delivery.
- Effective relationship management and an ability to communicate appropriately and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Support the design of robust commercial approaches, assessment and monitoring for future investment funds aligning with the Government’s Functional Standards on Grants.
