GMP Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of our client in Gloucestershire for a BOM and Materials Support Assistant to join a highly successful, rapidly expanding organisation.

Our client is a highly successful, leading engineering firm with who specialise in a wide range of markets including infrastructure, oil, and mining.

BOM and Materials Support Assistant Main Duties:

- Promote and work to company HSE policies and values
- To create and maintain part and BoM details within the ERP system including but not limited to part set up, Engineering Master set up with costs and assembly times.
- To develop and maintain an effective supplier base of approved suppliers for purchased and sub-contract items. Ensure that dual sourcing exists where appropriate
- Respond to system driven demand, obtain competitive prices, negotiate purchasing details, recommend alternatives, and expedite deliveries to the Lydney site in accordance with agreed lead times and client deadlines
- Monitor and update as required PO and WO dates within the ERP system to ensure correct and efficient scheduling of factory activity
- To review, evaluate, monitor costs (make versus buy as appropriate) and delivery of sub con parts to the Lydney site.
- To ensure purchase requisitions follow the correct authorisation process, meet specifications, meet legal and ethical requirements, and are produced, maintained, and communicated to the supplier
- To prepare time, cost, materials, and labour costs from drawings and other project documentation for purposes such as planning, organising, and scheduling work
- To consult with engineers, and others as needed, to discuss and formulate costs and optimise material use
- Raise PO to value of £2,000
- Raise Purchase requisitions for requirements above £2,000
- Set up and maintain part data on ERP system
- Set up and maintain BOM data on ERP system

BOM and Materials Support Assistant Required Skills and Experience:

- Have at least 5 years’ experience as a BOM Administrator or subcontract buyer (metals)
- Minimum HNC (degree preferred) in and engineering discipline and / or time served apprenticeship or training followed by relevant experience
- Demonstrable experience in steel manufacturing or assembly
- Extensive ERP knowledge including in depth understand of MRP/MRPII and BoM structures
- Understanding of supplier management and procurement methodologies.
- Able to read technical drawings and understand CAD file structures
- Computer literacy in appropriate standard packages e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, ERP and CAD systems

This is a Monday - Friday position, 37 hours a week, and can also offer a flexible working rota.

This role comes with a highly competitive salary up to £30,000 which is pending experience, plus excellent fringe benefits including 33 days holiday.
