If you’re looking for a role involving variety and challenge, where you’ll be involved in processing transactions across the various areas of accounts payable invoices, accounts receivable invoicing and credit control, daily banking transactions, and payroll - ranging from our staff payroll for around 110 staff to our monthly pension payroll for over 55,000 pensioners, then this could be the job for you

**Who we are**:
We are both a local authority and a pension fund and we’re unique within the Local Government Pension Scheme as the only democratically accountable single purpose pension organisation in the UK.As a local government body, we have a public sector ethos and place a great deal of importance on our organisational Values and Behaviours - which are all about being honest and accountable, professional, progressive and empowering.

As a member of the transactions team of 3 officers and a senior practitioner, you’ll play a key part in delivering a high quality, efficient and effective service where accuracy and timeliness are absolute priorities.

In addition, you’ll process daily banking statements onto our finance system, work on our weekly supplier payments run, raise sales invoices and assist with credit control.

In this role, you’ll use various software systems every day - including our finance system (Advanced Financials), and our Pensions Administration system (Civica - UPM) - in addition to using a range of Microsoft programs such as Excel, Outlook and Teams in particular.

You’ll engage with colleagues in other teams and with external suppliers and customers to provide relevant information and resolve queries.

You’ll regularly be working to deadlines and will on occasion have opportunities to get involved in projects either within the team on areas such as system developments and improvement, or across the organisation for example in our Equality and Diversity group or Health, Safety and Wellbeing Committee among others.

This team is located within Financial Services where we are strongly committed to continuous improvement and striving for excellence in everything we do.

- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate inputting and reporting of data.
- Previous finance and / or payroll experience would definitely be an advantage. With such a varied role and responsibilities, we won’t expect you to be an expert in all these areas from day one; you’ll be provided with a well-planned induction and training programme to get you up to speed. So, we’ll need you to be highly motivated, keen to learn and with a genuine interest in this type of work.
