**The Post**
To support the development of the MSc Applied Professional Studies (a course for qualified social work practitioners and other health/social care staff). The post-holder will have specific responsibility on the Adult Services, Support and Protection route within this degree. The post-holder will also contribute to other undergraduate and post-graduate modules on the Social Work qualifying programmes, and support the development of new Faculty Masters degrees.

**Description of Duties**
- Contribute to the enhancement of the quality of post-qualifying teaching for social workers, nurses and other allied health and social care professional provision and programme development, drawing on leading practices from the HE sector
- Contribute to continuous improvement of post-qualifying provision for the Scottish social services and allied health professional workforce. This post will have a particular focus, but not exclusive, on Adult Services, Support and Protection
- Demonstrate a broad understanding of effective approaches to teaching and learning support as key contributions to high quality student learning
- Contribute to enhancement of the student experience and employability
- Engage in individual and collaborative pedagogical and scholarly activity, which aligns to the strategic direction of the University, and disseminate results through regular publication in a manner appropriate to the work
- Independently, and in collaboration with colleagues, contribute to bids for external funding/income for scholarship activities
- Participate in the Faculty’s international engagement activities as required e.g., delivering teaching, contributing to joint programmes and recruitment of students
- Participate in, and develop, networks and collaborations both internally and externally to the Division/Faculty/University
- Participate in the administrative processes of the Division/Faculty/University including committee membership, quality assurance procedures and recruitment and admission of students
- Evaluate own practice and approaches to teaching, continue to maintain professional practice links and undertake continuous professional development appropriate to the role
- Any other duties, commensurate with the grade of the post

**Essential Criteria** Qualifications**
- A qualification in social work or health care
- Professional practice experience with adult care services and/or a PhD in a relevant discipline
- Experience delivering teaching or training in a University-based or health/social care agencies

**Knowledge, Skills & Experience**
- Experience or knowledge to design, deliver, assess and evaluate modules in social work education or agency-based training as part continuing professional development
- Knowledge of contemporary adult support and protection and self-directed support services as currently delivered in Scotland
- Demonstrate an understanding or experience of developing effective approaches to adult teaching and learning, support and guidance
- Experience or knowledge of approaches to enhance learning experience, particularly for part-time and mature health and social care professionals
- Clear plans for scholarship activities to enhance teaching and knowledge exchange for health and social care professionals

**Desirable Criteria** Qualifications**
- Higher Education teaching qualification or equivalent e.g. Learning and Development qualification; PGCert and/or holding or working towards Associate Fellow/Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA)

**Knowledge, Skills & Experience**
- Evidence, knowledge or interest of international collaboration
- Evidence of developing a high-quality publication record or preparing profession specific reports
- Evidence of developing teaching, scholarship or similar proposals to bid for external funding; this could include developing plans to improve service delivery in a health and social care setting
- Evidence of a basic knowledge of the Higher Education context and regulatory framework
- Credible plan for the active pursuit of external funding for pedagogic research to enhance the learning experience post qualifying students and scholarship activities promoting collaboration across health and social care services
