People Coordinator

Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.
At Scottish Water we are on a mission to improve the way that we recruit. We fill hundreds of internal and external vacancies every year, and provide support and advice to managers on how to hire well, and how to make sure their recruitment activity runs smoothly.
What you’ll do
We’ll assign you to an internal client group and you’ll become their first point of contact for all recruitment related queries. You’ll support them with guidance on raising job requisitions, help them write friendly job adverts, and post their vacancies internally and externally. You’ll also help with shortlisting, arranging interviews, and processing job offers.
_Feedback_ and
What you’ll need
You’ll need to be an organised, systems-savvy administrator with the ability to manage a high volume of work.
You don’t need a background in HR or Recruitment - although it would certainly be handy. But it’s important that you have a genuine interest in how organisations attract and hire people, and the ability to put yourself in the shoes of job seekers.
We use a system called Workday to manage our vacancies. If you’ve used this (or a similar HRIS/ATS) before, that would be really helpful.
Finally, you’ll be someone who likes seeing opportunities for improvements. As a new member of the team you’ll be a fresh pair of eyes and ears and we value your insight
Looking out for you
While the work we do is important, we know it’s not the only thing that matters. That’s why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.
You’ll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take time off to volunteer in your community.
When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working.
For your future, there’s our pension (the ‘know-what-you’ll-get-when-you-retire’ kind), and life assurance.
As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus. Not to mention access to SW Splash - handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.
The not-so-small print
This is a permanent role. The salary range is £23,177 to £28,425.
The volume of work the team handles means that this does need to be a full time job. But we’re open to different working patterns if the typical Monday to Friday, 9-5pm doesn’t work for you.
Your official base will be one of our main central belt sites (Stepps, Edinburgh, Stirling, Perth or Dundee), but we work very flexibly. Some of the team prefer working at home. Some like being in the office. Whatever works best for you.
We do try to make an effort to get together in our Stepps office once a week (usually on a Tuesday) for some face-to-face time, but on other days we stay connected with lots of video calls, check-ins and an embarrassingly GIF-heavy team chat.
A few final things worth knowing
Let us know if there are any changes we can make to our recruitment process to help you perform at your best. Lots of our people have disabilities or neurodiverse conditions (including some of our recruiters). We're also aware that some people might be experiencing temporary challenges because of life events, like menopause. We’re very used to making adjustments, so please don’t be afraid to ask.
As part of our commitment to developing a flourishing Scotland, it’s important that all our employees are Scottish taxpayers. If you join us, your home address will need to be in Scotland. If you don’t already live here, you'll need to commit to moving here within your first three months.
We’re here to help. Ask us anything at
