**Homelessness & Housing Solutions Officer**

**Operational Purpose**:
As a Homelessness & Housing Solutions Officer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering professional and compliant specialist customer-facing services aimed at preventing and relieving homelessness. You will adhere to legal obligations outlined in legislation such as the Housing Act 1996 (Part VI & VII), Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, Welfare Reform, Safeguarding, and the Children’s Act. Your responsibilities include supporting the strategic and operational managers in implementing the vision, strategies, and initiatives for the Homelessness and Housing Solutions Team, ensuring effective service delivery.

**Main Duties**:

- **Deliver Superior Quality Services**:

- Provide customer-centric Homelessness and Housing Solutions services with a strong emphasis on equality, diversity, and respect for individual circumstances.
- **Case Management**:

- **Accommodation Placement**:

- Ensure applicants entitled to temporary accommodation are placed appropriately in accordance with legislation and guidance, with prudent control of expenditure.
- **Support Colleagues and Applicants**:

- Assist colleagues in managing temporary accommodation agreements, including addressing breaches and welfare benefits.
- **Sustainable Housing Solutions**:

- Work collaboratively to ensure housing solutions are sustainable and manage expectations of applicants and stakeholders effectively.
- **Engagement with PRS Landlords**:

- Foster relationships with Private Sector (PRS) Landlords to prevent homelessness and maximize access to PRS initiatives or schemes.
- **Record Keeping and Reporting**:

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files for monitoring, audit, and reporting purposes, ensuring compliance with statutory and non-statutory requirements.
- **Knowledge Management**:

- Stay updated on housing legislation, guidance, case law, safeguarding, and best practices.
- **Performance Monitoring and Reporting**:

- Take responsibility for the performance of yourself, your team, and the service, providing regular feedback and identifying risks or opportunities for improvement.
- **Report Writing**:

- Write reports and submissions in response to requests for information and statistical data.
- **Adherence to Policies and Codes**:

- Operate in accordance with all policies, guidance, and codes.
- **Risk Management and Partnership Work**:

- Ensure personal and team safety through effective risk management and maintain partnerships with internal and external teams, agencies, and partners relevant to service delivery.
- **IT System Operations**:

- Ensure effective and accurate operation of relevant IT systems related to service delivery.
- **Professional Conduct**:

- Conduct all duties with integrity, complying with the Data Protection Act 1998.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Relevant degree or professional qualification in housing, law, or a related field.
- Experience in homelessness prevention and housing solutions, with a strong understanding of relevant legislation and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to manage caseloads effectively, make robust legal decisions, and maintain accurate records.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and with external partners.
- Proficiency in IT systems relevant to service delivery.
