About Barclays UK Product
Product represents the principal ways in which Barclays UK supports its customers with their borrowing needs for credit cards (including payments and revolving lending), instalment loans, unsecured loans, overdrafts, and mortgages. The business has the tremendous advantage of being able to leverage its leading brands with Barclaycard being the leading credit card brand in the UK. Barclays UK Product team develop retail products for customers across Barclays UK, ensuring that we always meet regulatory and legal obligations and work in partnership with our customer teams to meet, and hopefully exceed, our customers’ expectations whilst providing a first-class customer experience.

What will you be doing?
- Working with the Product ExCo, the role holder will play a critical role in leading, defining and setting out the overall Barclays UK Financial Assistance strategy
- Strategic thinker who is able to come up with new and innovative ways to address business challenges, and turn this into meaningful plans balancing customer, conduct, control, colleague, and commercial outcomes
- Accountable for setting the vision and driving delivery of the Barclays Financial Assistance strategic agenda, and be accountable for the performance, governance, and oversight of the Barclays Financial Assistance function, including where required, external 3rd parties, across all Secured and Unsecured Barclays UK personal products.
- Accountable for developing, implementing, and monitoring the pan BUK Financial Assistance strategy to deliver market leading customer and commercial outcomes in line with all regulatory requirements.
- Shaping the strategic vision for Barclays Financial Assistance, optimising customer and commercial outcomes whilst maintaining an effective 1st Line of Defence (1LOD) control framework, including 1LOD regulatory controls to ensure compliance to CONC, CCA3 and other appropriate regulatory controls
- Owning executive level relationships with key third party partners to leverage their capabilities to optimise all elements of our financial assistance strategy.
- Drive collaboration with strategic analytics to ensure the right segmentation of accounts for each strategy, that optimise the Barclays Financial Assistance strategy from a customer and commercial perspective.
- Accountable for ensuring robust engagement with finance and credit risk to understand and monitor any financial impacts and benefits of the Barclays Financial Assistance strategy across all personal BUK products.
- Shape and define contact strategy for Barclays Financial Assistance whilst ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Accountable for designing, implementing, and maintaining industry leading control and governance frameworks to ensure robust management of our Barclays Financial Assistance function to provide assurance operating in line with all regulations, industry best practice and Barclay’s policies and procedures.

What we’re looking for
- Proven track record in developing strategies driven by a focus on customer, competition, communications and cost.
- Extensive collections experience and collections strategy experience is key for this role.
- Leadership capabilities with the ability to bring together a complex set of matrix teams setting their vision and strategy.
- Strategic thinker, able to come up with new and innovative ways to address business challenges, and turn this into meaningful plans balancing customer, conduct, control, colleague, and commercial outcomes creating an environment and culture for the team to succeed.
- Excellent analytical thinker with demonstrated ability to use data to drive and evolve strategies. Ability to think both at a strategic level and as required drill into detail, with a demonstrable ability to deliver strategic initiatives on time, managing a wide range of priorities with multiple objectives.
- Experience in managing in a matrix structured, large corporate environment, with a demonstrated ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders.
- Experienced in leading and managing significant business change and successfully maximising benefit realisation and mitigating the impacts upon customers, employees and the business.
- A self-motivated team player who is able to naturally assume ownership of initiatives, define, structure and prioritise work for self as well as others but who also has the flexibility and capability to change priorities when circumstances dictate.
- Highly effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, and a high level of energy and enthusiasm. Ability to shape, promote, share and inspire our colleagues and customers on the customer led strategy.
