- UKCEH is looking for a Design Office Coordinator to join our 600-strong team, contributing to scientific discovery and generating the data, insights and solutions that researchers, businesses and governments need to solve complex environmental challenges.

- And much more.You’ll be joining our Hydro-climate risks group to coordinate with technical experts in the translation of scientific monitoring requirements into reliable, low-maintenance automated sensor networks. Assisting on developing the framework and deployment of hydrological instrumentation to measure the whole hydrological cycle, to reduce the uncertainty in closing the water balance in designated river catchment areas across the UK

You will initiate a new design office responsible for the technical integrity, traceability and quality assurance of the new field observations. Managing drawings and other technical documentation, as well as establishing new workflows to support design development and implementation, including change control.

Your main responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining accurate documentation of design decisions, systems, site layouts, and instrument asset records including calibration, fault logging and maintenance-
- Assist in selection and deployment of new IT systems to manage some of these activities-
- Develop standardised field site requirement documents and support site finding-
- Supporting implementation, working with a senior technician on system design and configuration, refining specifications for equipment and installation tenders-
- Managing drawings and other technical documentation-
- Establishing new workflows to support design development and implementation, including change controlFor the role of Design Office Coordinator, we’re looking for somebody who has:
- A degree in physical sciences, engineering or equivalent experience-
- Experience in project requirement gathering, assisting in developing design concepts and managing version control of technical documentation-
- The ability to read technical drawings such as; site plans, and simple cable layouts, and review design packs.-
- Initiative to setup a new design office, develop workflows and change control management-
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills-
- A full UK driving licence
