A rare opportunity has presented for Band 3 Clinical Support Workers to join our friendly and highly supportive Suspected Skin Cancer Team at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay.

We are seeking motivated, resilient, and patient-focused healthcare assistants who are flexible and adaptable to change. You will become a key member of a multi-disciplinary team with a strong focus on patient care and safety.

This new and unique role will provide the scope to gain a multitude of skills and knowledge including taking dermatoscopic images of patient lesions for clinical review and using various digital devices and innovative digital solutions to support clinical teams.

Working under your own initiative, this role will also involve getting out and about in both hospital and community settings, supporting patients nearer to their homes, monitoring patients, and escalating concerns. You will act as a positive role model to others. We are a progressive environment that supports personal development and welcomes new ideas.

As you will be required to travel to other clinical sites within rural locations your own transport or the ability to travel is an essential requirement for this role.

- Running independent image capture clinics
- Taking dermatoscopic images of patient lesions
- Using digital devices and platforms to upload images and record patient consent
- Working as part of the wider Dermatology and suspected Skin Cancer Team

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
