DI is part of the Ministry of Defence and provides intelligence analysis, specialist outputs and advice to support decision making across all levels of Defence and Government. The post sits within the DI-Business Operations Team - which coordinates some critical business enabling processes and functions for the enterprise. It is responsible for core business processes related to H&S management and Climate Change and Sustainability for Defence Intelligence. DI is a 3*/ Senior Civil Servant led organisation with over 5000 staff delivering intelligence services and capabilities for Defence and broader National Security objectives. DI directly contributes to protect the people, territories, values and interests at home and overseas, to ensure our security, support national interests and safeguard the UK’s prosperity.

**Job description**:

- You will hold the delegated role of providing proficient professional advice and assurance at HLB level reporting to Chief DI and at 1* management board level through the Director Strategy and Enterprise who will monitor Health, Safety and Environment Protection (HS&EP), Climatic Change and Sustainability (CC&S) and Business Resilience performance on a regular basis. Each Head of Establishment / Commanding Officer under CDIs command appoints Site Health and Environment Advisor’s (SHEA) / Focal Points for SHEP & Climate Change &Sustainability for their AOR. DI Bus Ops - SHEP is the functional safety manager to SHEA / CC&S and will communicate with them on overall HS&EP and CC&S matters reflecting UKStratCom policy.**Person specification**:
As the primary HS&EP Advisor appointed in accordance with Regulation 7 of the Management of H&S at Work Regulations, DI Bus Ops - SHEP will be expected to:

- Attend quarterly CESO UKStratCom SHEF Work Group Meetings and provide feedback on relevant SHEF issues that have an impact on the DI HLB to the DCDI and Dir ISR Management Boards.
- Attend quarterly / six monthly site level H&S meetings as CDIs representative and support the unit Head of Establishment. Assist Head of Establishments and site Safety Health Environment Advisor (SHEA) in identifying and implementing SHEP standard practice
- Maintain DI Roadmap to compliance, compile quarterly and annual DI HLB SHEP reports as directed by CESO UKStratCom.
- Prepare DI HLB ad hoc reports to CESO UKStratCom / DSA / DFRMO as required.
- Deliver guidance to CDI on H&S issues within UKStratCom Command Board reports.
- To implement the UKStratCom Duty Holder Construct UKStratCom SOP0013 throughout the HLB and review annually ensuring Delivery Duty Holder (DDH) assurance reports are submitted to the DI HLB Operating Duty Holder (CDI)
- Develop and cultivate a network of subordinate SHEA (site level), SH&E Focal Points and Site Representatives, to enable coverage and communication within DI HLB on all related issues.
- Disseminate Safety Notices received from CESO UKStratCom, DSA, DFRMO, DE&S, TLBs to DI subunits where appropriate via network of HLB SHEA / SH&E Focal Points.
- Support SHEP issues in DI HLB, by ensuring the Policy and Organisation and Arrangement Statements represent DI HLB activities and these are drawn to the attention of all staff.
- Assist Heads of Establishment to define SHEA Terms of Reference (ToRs) and the development of SH&E training requirements for SHEA.
