Bristol City Council Fostering, Kinship & Special Guardianship Service are looking for Family Support workers to be part of this exciting and specialist area of work.
**1 x Family Support Worker: Kinship & Special Guardianship**
You will undertake a variety of tasks including supporting children through direct work with them, facilitating and supervising contact with children’s family and friends, support of birth parents, parenting support, supporting children and carers through transitions and assisting with support groups and events for Special Guardians and Kinship Carers.
Our aim is to promote permanency for children who cannot remain in the care of their parents by supporting them to be cared for within their family and friends network.
With your help we aim to have a responsive service which meets the needs of this diverse group of children and their carers. This role will give you the opportunity to undertake innovative work and help develop the service by working closely with our existing and experienced team who are as passionate about the work as we hope you will be.
Our aspiration is to ensure good outcomes for children who are being cared for by Special Guardians and Kinship Carers by providing them with a high level of support when they need it.
**1 x Family Support Worker: Fostering**
You will undertake a variety of tasks including direct work with birth children of foster carers, providing parenting advice and support to foster carers, and completing paperwork relating to foster carer annual reviews.
You will support carers and children through transitions to adopters, new foster carers, and also transitions into independence, and where appropriate supervise family and sibling time for fostered children.
You will support foster carers to access online and face to face training relevant to their role and the needs of children they care for, and also assist social workers in the delivery of support groups for foster carers and foster carer events. Your role will involve working with both mainstream and kinship foster carers, and will be interesting and varied.
You will work across our three fostering teams, and will be joining a friendly, stable and supportive service. We are passionate about improving stability for children in care, and you will have an important role in promoting positive experiences in fostering families and permanence for our fostered children, standing alongside children and foster carers to celebrate successes and overcome challenges.
