**Job Title**: Independent Living Mentor

**Salary**: £ 23,184.00 plus benefits (Life Insurance, Healthcare Cover and Pension; also, your birthday off as an additional holiday)

**Status**: Permanent Hours: 37.5 hours per week, shift pattern Monday to Friday 07.00 to 15.00, some flexibility may be required to offer ad hoc cover on weekends. You may also be required to occasionally work 11.00 to 19.00.

**JOB PURPOSE**:
The Brick is a charity with big aspirations and its local community at the heart of everything it does. As a result, The Brick follows a strategy and approach focusing on personal development by following The 3 R’s. The 3 R’s are: Relief, meeting felt needs, Restoration, equipping people for self
- sustaining, independent living, and Reformation, speaking out and acting against social injustice. The key role will be to support The Brick and individuals through providing Restoration. You will collaborate with an individual to create and facilitate bespoke support to some of the most vulnerable young adults in Wigan.

In summary the role of Independent Living Mentor in this provision, will work with young adults, experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Priority goes to those who have previously been looked after children. You will support 4 residents accommodated in a friendly, homely setting with immediate and midterm tailored trauma informed support plans. Please note, this is a lone working post.

You will work with Wigan Council and other local housing associations to refer residents into appropriate move on accommodation.

The focus is on providing trauma informed support and you will be responsible for building mutual trusting relationships with our younger (16-24) residents to enable them to engage with tailored support plans; and become tenancy ready. There is a real focus on living skills such as cooking, cleaning, and budgeting. You will help support residents were needed to help them feel confident in doing such tasks independently. You will also address any support that will be required when they move into more independent living, completing referrals to external agencies as appropriate to address any social care needs, mental health support and tenancy support in the community.
