Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are looking for an enthusiastic individual who would like to join our friendly and supportive Therapy Team working between Wrightington and Wigan Hospital inpatient service. Duties will be varied, principally assisting with direct patient rehabilitation on the Orthopaedic wards with some associated administrative and cleaning duties.

The successful post holder will be part of an effective and motivated team. Working under the supervision of the Therapists and Therapy Practitioners they will provide a high standard of clinical care, supporting patients during therapy treatment in a fast paced environment.

The service runs over 7 days and you will be expected to work 5 days a week which will include some weekends.
- Work as a member of the inpatient therapy team to provide excellent clinical care to elective orthopaedic patients at Wrightington hospital. These patients will have undergone primary and revision joint replacements along with routine and complex day case orthopaedic surgery.
- Assist in the provision of a flexible patient centred programme of therapeutic activities under the direction and supervision of a registered therapist.
- Enable patients to achieve their treatment goals.
- Keep accurate written records and statistics as required by the service.
- Assist in departmental administration

On-Call

Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.
- To assist therapists in the assessment and treatment process within agreed competency levels.
- To assist in information collection from patients as requested by therapy staff.
- To work independently in a clinical setting with an assigned routine caseload, under the direction and supervision of a therapist.
- To carry out specific interventions, as prescribed by therapists.
- To carry out activities in a variety of settings, as directed by therapists.
- Instruct patients in the use of equipment and techniques to promote independence.
- To help with the maintenance and cleaning of equipment within the therapy setting
