Glamorgan, United Kingdom Cardiff and Vale University Health Board Full time

Are you an innovative, experienced mental health practitioner driven to improve the care and experience of children & young people (CYP) who access mental health services? Are you looking for an opportunity to play a pivotal role in CYP’s mental health journeys?

If so we are a transformative, supportive service implementing an exciting vision for CYP’s emotional wellbeing & mental health (EWMH) in Cardiff and Vale.

In 2023 we are bringing together our individual services into one EWMH service with one front door and one assessment, creating a seamless route for CYP to get intervention and support.

Our vision is that CYP have one comprehensive assessment and we work collaboratively to ensure they receive the right intervention from our NHS EWMH services or our third sector partners. We are committed to bringing the voices and ideas from CYP & families to the forefront of service design and delivery.

You will be joining a new and evolving team, helping us to create dedicated assessment capacity to support our delivery and obligations under the Mental Health Measure (2010). You will bring your experience to help us shape this essential service, ensuring we best meet the needs of CYP.

You will have access to regular peer discussion, clinical supervision, team meetings & training. We have opportunities for fully remote working.

Interested applicants can contact Carys Bourne (Assessment team lead for Emotional Wellbeing & Mental Health for CYP) to discuss the post (02921 836730)

The Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health Care Group will be implementing a new EW&MH Assessment Team that will provide a robust mental health assessment process for children and young people who require support for their emotional wellbeing and mental health.

**As a practitioner in the EW&MH Assessment Team, you will**:

- Provide specialist evidence based mental health assessment to Children and Young People referred to the service
- Work in partnership with external agencies thus ensuring that the needs of service users and carers are addressed in a proactive manner
- Work collaboratively with statuary & voluntary services to create a seamless transition process into and through the service.
- Be able to communicate highly complex, sensitive information where agreement and co-operation is required
- Work as a fully integrated member of the multi-professional team
- Be able to make decisions that are based on best practice and in-line with NICE Guidelines thus enabling the young person and family to address their identified needs in a manner that minimises their stay within service
- Understand young people’s issues and how best to address them
- Provide patient-centred assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation with children, young people, parents and families using mental health practitioner skills

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
