We’re looking for exceptional People Leaders for Aviation Meteorologists to help us make a difference to our planet.

At the Met Office we embrace hybrid working. As our People Leaders for Aviation Meteorologists, you will work a hybrid pattern and our current Team Charter requires you to be on site at our Exeter HQ at least four days per month. The Met Office and wider government continue to monitor the effectiveness of our hybrid working. You can choose to work more frequently in our state-of-the-art office if you'd prefer.

Whilst these are temporary positions for 12-months, there is potential for them to develop into permanent positions.

**Job description**:
This is an exciting role in which you can provide leadership and support to our Aviation Meteorologists in our Exeter-based Services Operations Centre (SOC). Providing line management to a group of 15-20 individuals, and working with the aviation management team, you will provide clear support and development for the team. You may on occasion have to work anti-social hours to meet the needs of your team.

You will need to attend leadership and management events and Weather Impacts and Advice (WIA) leadership meetings, sometimes in person, and to attend Services Roadshow events.

As our People Leaders for Aviation Meteorologists, your key responsibilities are:

- As an enthusiastic leader and role model, manage and guide a team of Aviation Meteorologists such that they are engaged, motivated and inspired as they progress on their journey with the Met Office
- Work with the Aviation Meteorologists in your team to ensure that they are developed in the best way for them. Invest time in developing relationships with all team members, taking time to understand their motivations and what energises them, unlocking their potential and promoting a culture of development within the team.
- Provide Line Management (1RM) for the Aviation Meteorologists.
- Work in collaboration with colleagues across WIA and the wider Met Office to facilitate your team members remaining current in their AMO (Aeronautical Meteorological Observer) and AMF (Aeronautical Meteorological Forecaster) qualifications.
- Work in collaboration with colleagues, especially within WIA, to identify the training needs of your team members and facilitate the required cross-training such that the Aviation team can continue to function in an efficient and robust manner.
- Work closely with the Aviation management team within WIA, acting as the bridge between this team and the Aviation Meteorologists, attending associated meetings to ensure a consistent exchange of information.
