Job description

Would you like to be a part of The London Borough of Hounslow, whose diverse workforce are committed to making a positive difference for our residents and visitors by ensuring the quality of our services are maintained to a high standard?

Hounslow Council is an outstanding council serving an outstanding borough. With brilliant, visionary leadership, a dynamic Cabinet and a can-do culture, we’ve built strong partnerships across the borough which have transformed how we serve one of London’s most diverse boroughs. Hounslow is the world in one place, full of potential, but a borough hit hard -socially and economically -by Covid-19. We have stepped up for our residents and businesses like never before.

**About The Role**

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced, self-motivated, and dynamic Safer Communities Coordinator to join our Community Safety Team, to support the delivery of the borough’s Safer Communities Strategy through diverse crime reduction work programmes.

The Community Safety Team is responsible for providing life-saving frontline services, co-ordinating work across different disciplines, strengthening partnership and collaborative work, implementing innovative projects, and ensuring the Council fulfils its statutory duties to make Hounslow safer for everyone.

The borough is embarking on its most ambitious plans to move from an enforcement led approach to a preventative model to keep Hounslow safe. A key part of this work is developing our relationships with communities in local neighbourhoods through engagement and consultation.

We are looking to recruit to the role of Safer Communities Coordinator to take forward this exciting new work. We are looking for an outstanding individual who has extensive experience in working with residents to support them in co-designing and co-delivering initiatives, implementing an-area-based model and who will be responsible for co-ordinating internal teams, external partners and creating multi-agency actions plans to address issues affecting communities in areas they live in.

**Key Responsibilities**:
2. To work collaboratively with residents and communities to co-design and co-deliver crime reduction initiatives and action plans.

3. To implement relevant legislation and good practice in keeping vulnerable children, adults and families safe.

4. To co-ordinate multi-agency forums to assist in the successful delivery of crime reduction initiatives and action plans.

**Your Skills**:
1. Extensive skills in processes and procedures relating to legal remedies in the field of community safety.

2. Proven ability to manage a complex caseload of community safety issues.

3. Ability to represent the Council and its partners at public facing meetings and work positively with residents and communities.

4. Highly organised, with excellent time management skills and the ability to work with competing priorities in pressurised environment.

***Essential for the Role**:

- Enhanced DBS

This post is considered by the authority to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers. The council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.

**Interviews will be held on 10 February 2023.**:
