Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research associate to work as part of a team under the supervision of Martin Lotz in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Warwick. The project will also be co-supervised by co-PIs Mihai Cucuringu from the University of Oxford and Giovanni Colavizza from the University of Bologna.

The project will start in April 2024 and end in March 2025. We are open to remote work.

In this role, you will also help lead the research group and work with them to generate new research ideas. You will have the opportunity to develop your written communication skills through regular interactions with non-academic collaborators, the preparation of research results for publication, and your oral skills through dissemination of your work at internal and external seminars/conferences.

We are looking for a highly motivated and talented applicant with theoretical and applied experience in machine learning. Excellent communication skills and an ability to thrive in interdisciplinary collaborative teams is required for this project. Experience in graph embeddings, networks and/or anomaly detection would be a plus.

You will be required to work independently and within a team. You will hold a PhD or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. mathematics, computer science, engineering).

If you are near submission or have recently submitted your PhD but have not yet had it conferred, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant at the top of level 5 of the University grade structure. Upon receipt of evidence of the successful award of your PhD, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of level 6 of the University grade structure.
