The Institute for Global Sustainable Development in the School for Cross-faculty Studies at the University of Warwick is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow, on a part-time basis (0.4 FTE) to assist with the implementation of the Warwick Ukraine-Belarus hub (WUB-hub) project.

The WUB-hub envisages working collaboratively with Ukraine’s Working Group, SHAPEDEM-EU, Ukraine Resilience projects at Warwick and external stakeholders to grow a joint platform for research and impact activities and to build links with scholars, policy-makers, practitioners and civil society activists globally. Working with the project’s Principal Investigator, Professor Korosteleva and a Steering Group of stakeholders, the role of the Research Assistant will include:

- Organising global virtual discussions on Belarus, Ukraine and the wider region on the key issues pertaining to the war, strategy and region’s rebuilding (including via youtube)
- Preparing and disseminating its policy briefs, based on webinars and other contributions**, **to policy stakeholders (parliament, FCDO, EU institutions, British Council, NGOs)
- Regularly contributing to strategic policy debates and workshops on Belarus and Ukraine in the Parliament and FCDO; and the EU institutions
- Organising workshops with partner organisations and a final conference in June 2024

The overall goal is to connect research expertise with policy and societal stakeholders to raise awareness about the region’s challenges and to develop a comprehensive strategy for the full-fledged transition of the East European region towards a more democratic, and peaceful future.

The role-holder will be required to be present on the University’s main campus in Coventry periodically in order to ,carry out the responsibilities of the role including familiarising themselves with the existing facilities and networks and facilitating collaborative working with the University’s Research Services team.

We engage critically and constructively with sustainable development frameworks such as Agenda 2030 and develop innovative transdisciplinary methods for co-producing research whilst empowering local stakeholders and communities to achieve positive change.

Our team consists of a permanent core team of researchers supported by research enablers. In addition to this and to support the research thematics, are IGSD Thematic Fellows and Honorary Fellows who are not part of the core team but support the expansion of the critical mass of the research.
