Do you have an interest in working with people with learning disabilities?
Do you thrive in a job that is different every day?
Are you looking for opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge?
Would you like to progress your career or become a nurse? Do you hold values in line with the Trust values in that you are caring and believe in safe and excellent care?
If the answer to any of the questions above is ‘yes’, we would love you to consider joining our multi-disciplinary forensic inpatient team at Evenlode ward, Oxford Clinic.
Evenlode ward is a 10-bedded medium secure forensic ward for men with learning disabilities. The ward is developing practice using a Positive Behaviour Support approach to improve care, and ultimately, the lives of the men we work with.
The team are a proactive, positive group of professionals who pride themselves on working collaboratively with the men on the ward and their families.
We are looking for dedicated Support Workers/ Nursing Assistants committed to high quality patient care. A large part of your role will be to implement planned therapeutic interventions and activities, promoting independence, well-being and healthy life choices.
You should be able to demonstrate effective communication skills, both oral and written. You will need to be flexible, motivated and adaptable in a challenging environment.
The work is varied and interesting and there are many opportunities for career development. We will support you to complete the Care Certificate and encourage you to consider progression to Band 4 Nursing Associate through the Trust’s Nurse associate training, with the option to do a shortened Registered Nurse (Band 5) education programme.
For those not interested in academic development, there are additional roles on the ward for specific issues such as Healthy Weight, Positive Behaviour Support, Peace Champion, Reducing Restrictive Practices, Infection prevention, etc.
Enhancements are payable and a Regional Secure Allowance is paid in addition to the annual salary.
Benefits of working for Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust include:
- Excellent opportunities for career progression
- 27 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, with an increase to 33 days with continuous service
- NHS Discount across a wide range of shops, restaurants and retailers
- Staff accommodation
- Competitive pension scheme
- Lease car scheme
- Cycle to work scheme
We can offer full or part-time working and some flexibility although you will be required to work day and night shifts on rotation, including weekends and bank holidays.
All nursing staff are required to complete the Trust Induction and Positive Engagement and Caring Environments training upon their appointment as a condition of employment.
**Please note**:
- New starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale.
- Employees are expected to undertake mandatory and statutory training related to their role.
- Oxford Health is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
