**Job Purpose**
Support the delivery of teaching within the School of Biodiversity One Health and Veterinary Medicine with a specific focus on veterinary clinical skills, (farm animal/mixed practice) including gross pathology and clinical reasoning and may include farm visits. The post holder plays an important role as a bridge between the clinical skills and farm animal teams. The post holder’s primary duties/responsibilities will be to contribute to and lead teaching, assessment, feedback, and administrative processes associated with undergraduate students. The post holder may also be involved in the delivery of undergraduate clinical training in individual animal medicine and surgery, routine herd/flock health management and herd/flock health problem solving investigations.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. To deliver teaching of clinical and professional skills and clinical reasoning, with a focus on farm animals, in a variety of settings, e.g. lecture theatres, the clinical skills facility, teaching laboratories, the Scottish Centre for Production Animal Health and Food Safety (SCPAHFS), Cochno Farm and farms external to the university with which the University of Glasgow has working relationships.
2. To contribute to production animal pathology and VPH teaching as appropriate and particularly in the clinical phase of the BVMS programme and be available for the supervision of under/post graduate research projects where appropriate.
3 To ensure appropriate communication between the clinical skills and farm animals teams with regard to current best practice.
4. To take responsibility for the delivery of a range of assessment activities and engage with the examination process as appropriate and provide effective, timely and appropriate feedback to students to support learning.
5. To contribute to the ongoing development and design of the curriculum, in a manner that supports a research led and scholarly approach to student learning.
6. To undertake administrative duties (e.g. module/course leadership) as requested by the Head of Division and to lead specific initiatives to enhance the learning experience and ensure the requirements of regulatory bodies are met.
7. To participate in quality assurance and enhancement activities, curriculum review and programme re-accreditation with the University and professional bodies to ensure high quality education provision is maintained. 8. To support the development of creative and innovative approaches to teaching and learning, in accordance with the University’s Quality Enhancement Strategy, so that the educational opportunities available to students are maintained or improved.
9. To participate in the Advisor of Studies (student mentorship) Programme and assist students with difficulties.

**Knowledge/Qualifications**

**Essential**:

A1 Veterinary degree, registered with the RCVS before commencing employment.

**Desirable**:
B1 Further professional veterinary qualifications in relevant production animal health or a related area.
B2 A teaching and assessment portfolio in veterinary education.
B3 Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

**Skills**

**Essential**:

C1. Clinical competence in individual animal and herd / flock level production animal/mixed veterinary medicine, pathology and surgery.
C2 Excellent communication skills, both orally and written.
C3 Enthusiasm for teaching and learning.
C4 Excellent interpersonal skills and presentation skills.
C5 Time, project and people management skills.
C6 Ability to supervise and direct staff/students in the support of activities.
C7 Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
C8 Self-motivated, able to plan for contingencies and think strategically.
C9 Ability to accept collegiate responsibilities and act accordingly.


**Desirable**:

D1 Evidence of scholarship.
D2 Understanding and experience of databases.

**Experience**

**Essential**:

E1 Substantive experience of a clinical service with a substantial production animal case/mixed practice load.

**Desirable**:

F1 Experience in the delivery of teaching and practical skill training to undergraduate veterinary students (or equivalent).

**Terms and Conditions**
Salary will be Grade 7, £39,347 - £44,263 per annum.
This post is full time and open ended.
