**Profile Title**: Veterans Connections Officer

**Location**: Mobile

**Hours**: 17.5 per week

**Salary**: £ 11.63 per hr

**Contract**: Fixed Term until 30th April 2024

The main purposes of this role are:

- Engaging and influencing veterans’ organisations and other community organisations to coordinate outreach programmes.
- To act as facilitator to support the local community to provide its own solutions to addressing loneliness and social isolation in older veterans.
- To raise awareness of the problem of loneliness and its impacts on health and wellbeing.
- To engage support from local communities and partner agencies in identifying veterans in need of help and referring them to the project.
- To engage existing groups in making their activities more supportive to lonely people and to provide support to make those activities sustainable.
- To recruit and support volunteers to help lonely individuals to build confidence, participate in local activities and improve their health and wellbeing.
- To be digitally engaged and capable of coordinating digital activities and groups.
- To carry out holistic assessments to identify all the underlying causes of loneliness.
- To link individuals to volunteer support and/or activity groups to address loneliness and social isolation.
- To link lonely people to other projects and services to address all the underlying causes of their loneliness
- Recruiting and engaging volunteers for the programme. To facilitate the development of new volunteer-led activities to help alleviate loneliness.
- To help build community resilience and improve the health and wellbeing of older people.
- To record and report findings and project monitoring information.

- Self-starter: adept at managing multiple veterans’ projects independently and managing your own workload effectively.
- People focus: building relationships and making beneficiaries feel good about interacting and being part of group life. Being aware and engaged with people’s personal development.
- Readiness to work in several locations with full driving license and car access to travel around West Cumbria.

Desirable criteria

**Education**
- Basic Maths, English, ICT skills inc. MS Office + Excel

**Job Types**: Part-time, Temporary contract, Fixed term contract

Part-time hours: 17.5 per week
