**About the College**
- Middlesbrough College is the largest General Further Education College in the Tees Valley and has been situated in Middlehaven, Middlesbrough, since 2008. It has developed from the initial main site to the vibrant campus that is now in place with our Campus Heart, dedicated Sixth Form, STEM Centre, Higher Education Centre, and further development for our apprentices in progress.
- The College provides excellent facilities for approximately 13,000 students from across the region and whilst we are very proud of our campus and the equipment our students have access to, we are clear that it is the experience and dedication of our staff that make a positive difference to the lives of our students, helping them to achieve their educational goals and progress into work, higher education, or apprenticeships.
- In 2020/2021, 96% of learners following a study programme attained a positive destination into further training, apprenticeship, or employment. **About the role**
The Head of Teaching & Learning - Construction, Engineering and TTE plays a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience within the faculty, focusing on curriculum development, pedagogical innovation, staff professional development, teaching and learning quality assessment, compliance, sharing best practice and cross college collaboration. The ultimate goal is to ensure that the college and faculty provides high-quality education and training that prepares students for their chosen career path.
**Qualifications**
- To hold a relevant qualification at Degree level.
- Personal commitment to keeping your professional knowledge up to date and improving your capabilities.
- Grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent) or willing to work towards it.

**Experience**
- Proven ability to design and deliver effective and engaging teaching sessions.
- To have significant, successful and current teaching experience.
- To have received Full Confidence for the last two academic years in Teaching & Learning Lesson Observations.
- To have evidence of teaching strategies that consistently and effectively produces high student retention and achievement.
- Mentoring or coaching experience.
- Previous experience of supporting staff.
**Knowledge & Skills**
- Leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teaching staff.
- To have current relevant experience of Teaching, Learning & Assessment.
- To be able to demonstrate evidence of disseminating own good practice effectively.
- To have current experience of coaching and/or mentoring of staff.
- Good oral and written communication skills with a capacity to manage challenging conversations and deal effectively with staff, students, parents, employers and others.
- To have excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Evidence of disseminating own good practice effectively.
- Ability to deal promptly and effectively with inappropriate behaviour in the classroom.
- Able to prepare written and visual teaching materials including the effective use of Information Learning Technology e.g. Virtual Learning Environment, PowerPoint supported by key software.
- A creative and imaginative approach to student centred teaching.
