NELFT are currently recruiting for a full time Band 3 Rehabilitation Assistant to join their Community Rehabilitation Service.
The team works across and has bases within the boroughs of Havering and Barking and Dagenham. The work is community based and so being able to travel efficiently and effectively across the two boroughs is essential.
The team and Trust are fully committed to support development, providing appropriate training, supervision and appraisals.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- To be responsible for carrying out and monitoring treatment programmes as directed by qualified therapy staff. Interventions may be individual or group based.
- To monitor patient’s progress, taking into account of their environment and adjust own clinical interventions accordingly, depending on the situation and own skills and knowledge. Referring back to the therapist for support and advice ensuring that they are aware of any modifications made.
- Follow the therapist’s treatment plan and feedback on the patient’s progress and highlight need for re-assessment when needed.
- Contribute to delegated therapy assessments. These may as directed by any member of the multi-disciplinary team but predominately occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech and language therapy.
- Once a therapy programme is established, hand over patients as appropriate to other multi-disciplinary team members/support staff teaching new ways of working as needed.
- To be able to recognise and request the need for further advice, guidance and support as appropriate.
- To co-ordinate patient appointments and own work diary, organising own day to day activity in liaison with the therapists.

Probationary Period

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High-Cost Area Supplement - London

This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436).

other responsibilities
- To be able to work alone at times in the therapy/ward environment and in the community, under the direction of the therapist and always with access to support and supervision.
- To be responsible for competent use and maintenance of all equipment used, and to report defects in equipment.
- To have organisational knowledge relating to Trust protocols and procedures and adhere to them, particularly moving and handling.
- To be responsible for providing accurate records of information required by the Trust for audit purposes.
- To ensure effective risk management by accident/incident reporting, assessing and controlling risk and ensuring residual risks are added to the Trust register.

**Essential Criteria for the post include**:

- A good general education/NVQ level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy
- Previous experience of working within a care setting
- Basic IT skills
- including the use of Outlook and word programmes
- Ability to travel efficiently and effectively across all sites within NELFT
