**Rape, Serious Sexual Offences and Domestic Abuse Policy**

**Victims, Vulnerabilities, and Criminal Law Directorate**

The Victims, Vulnerabilities, and Criminal Law Directorate is recruiting permanently for one HEO Policy Advisor. This campaign is being run externally and so is open to all who consider themselves suitable for the roles and meet the eligibility criteria in the wider advert within Civil Service Jobs.

**Location**:

- 102 Petty France, London
- 5 Wellington Place, Leeds

Occasional travel between the two locations may be required.

In order for Policy Group to meet its evolving business needs all Policy Group staff are expected to attend their base location (102 Petty France or 5 Wellington Place Leeds) at least 2 days a week. This hybrid working arrangement is not contractual and as a result staff could be asked to attend their base location more frequently.

**Salary**

New entrants to the Civil Service will be expected to join on the minimum of the pay range.

**Policy Advisor, Rape, Serious Sexual Offences and Domestic Abuse Policy - the role**

The Rape, Serious Sexual Offences and Domestic Abuse Policy team is a friendly team delivering high-profile and fast-paced work at the heart of the justice agenda. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a challenging but rewarding role, supporting Ministers to ensure urgent improvements are made to improve the justice system’s response to rape, serious sexual offences, and domestic abuse (RASSO and DA).

Responsibilities are variable, but are likely to include:

- Working closely with a SEO to drive forward the successful implementation of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021.
- Building strong working relationships across the MoJ and with other government departments and sector stakeholders to improve the justice system response to VAWG.
- Supporting the team’s coordination and response to cross-cutting commissions, parliamentary questions, and correspondence on VAWG.

**Skills and Experience**

- Ability to understand complex issues and communicate them effectively to a range of audiences.
- Ability to identify areas for improvement and suggest changes.

- Excellent organisational skills and self-management.

Desirable:

- An understanding and/or interest in policy making in Government.
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system.
