Oxford, United Kingdom University of Oxford Full time

The University of Oxford is a stimulating work environment, which enjoys an international reputation as a world-class centre of excellence. Our research plays a key role in tackling many global challenges, from reducing our carbon emissions to developing vaccines during a pandemic.

We have an exciting opportunity to join the IT Services Department as a Systems Administrator (Microsoft) on a two year fixed term contract. You will be based in Banbury Road / Dartington House but you will be able to agree a pattern of regular remote working with your line manager.

IT Services is a key department that ensures that the University has robust, reliable and high-performing IT facilities it requires to support the distinctive needs of those engaged in teaching, learning, research and administration. We value and recognise our own and the contribution of others, creating a great culture to work in and a place where we all feel we belong.

**What We Offer**

As an employer, we genuinely care about our employees’ wellbeing and this is reflected in the range of benefits that we offer including:

- An excellent contributory pension scheme
- 38 days annual leave
- A comprehensive range of childcare services
- Family leave schemes
- Cycle loan scheme
- Discounted bus travel and Season Ticket travel loans

The University also runs an enormous amount of social groups and sports clubs for those looking for more than just a great place to work.

**About the Role**

As a Systems Administrator (Microsoft), you will support and advise researchers across the University who will be using the new Research File Service (RFS). You will report to the Research Services Support Team (RSST) manager, with a dotted line report to the Microsoft Platform Services team (MPST) manager. You will be responsible for service and incident response to troubleshoot and resolve RFS issues, communicating with users, suppliers, project and service teams, identifying new business and user requirements and acting on these with systems design and development, supporting server and infrastructure management alongside other daily supporting duties.

**About You**

To be successful in this varied and interesting role, you will need to be someone who strives for excellence and enjoys providing high quality customer service, whilst also ensuring what you deliver is completed in a safe way.

You will have great communication skills, and be confident in the ability to communicate to members of the public, students and academic staff with courtesy and politeness.

You will also have a positive attitude with a flexible and adaptable approach to your work, and be comfortable when priorities suddenly need to change.

You will require demonstrable expertise in Microsoft Windows systems administration alongside great reasoning and analytical ability.

You will need to be a self-starter who can respond to requests and manage your own work independently.

**Application Process**

Interviews will take place on the week commencing 24 April and will take place either face to face or virtually.
