The Research & Information Team (R&I) provides information resources and research and enquiry services for Members of Parliament, their staff and staff of the House. It is composed of the House of Commons Library and the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST).

The Members’ Library Services Team is part of the Library Services directorate within the House of Commons Library. It is responsible for the operation and management of the Members’ Library in the Palace of Westminster as well as the information requests and enquiry service provided for MPs and their staff. It provides a range of services in the library, including book loans and access to printed and online reference materials and information resources, and is the main point of contact with the Library for MPs and their staff.

**Job description**:
The Head of Members’ Library Services leads a team of 14 providing high profile services to MPs and their staff in the Members Library. It is a demanding Member facing role with a strong focus on customer service in which you will be responsible for maintaining existing high levels of customer satisfaction.

It is an exciting time to join the team as significant change is underway in R&I and Library Services and you will need to work closely with the Director of Library Services to innovate and develop the team and its services. This will require the flexibility to adapt as the role evolves and an understanding of when to delegate and when to take the lead in person.

**To be successful in this role, you would need to demonstrate the following skills, knowledge, and experience**:
**Management and leadership**
- Ability to lead, motivate and develop team members, manage individual performance and create an inclusive team environment

**Service delivery and development**
- Excellent customer service skills and good knowledge of the information resources required to support the scrutiny of legislation and public policy
- Experience of delivering information services and of innovating and having led change to services or culture in a complex working environment

**Collaborative working**
- Experience of building effective relationships with people with an ability to persuade, influence and challenge others at all levels, both within a team and across the wider organisation
- Ability to work successfully within a team, whilst upholding the values of equality, diversity and inclusion

**Communication**
- Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate complex issues to non-specialists and actively communicate to different audiences using a variety of methods

**Planning and organisation**
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan and manage own time and the work of others while working under pressure
