**Residential Support Worker**

**Overview**:
Here at Kinver Care, our service provides a safe place for young people (age 8 - 17 years) we care for and accommodate children who are experiencing challenging behaviours, complex mental health needs, Autism, and Learning Disabilities.

At Kinver Care, we provide tailored care packages in safe environments and our highly dedicated and experienced staff teams empower all our young people and promote progress towards a better life and prepare to live as independently as they can.

Our Children’s Division aims to meet the needs of children across the spectrum of care. We provide a range of specialist services that support this ambition providing where possible every child the care, therapy and learning they need to ensure they achieve their personal best. We focus on delivering clear outcomes for each child in each of our homes.

Our aim is to provide safe short, medium, or long-term care and accommodation that is stabilising and supportive towards children/ young people with a learning disability, autism, mental health need or challenging behaviour.

**Responsibilities**
- Provide direct care and support to children in accordance with their individual care plans, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
- Assist children with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, dressing, and medication administration.
- Foster a safe and supportive environment for children, promoting their independence and well-being.
- Establish positive relationships with children, families, and other members of the care team, advocating for their rights and preferences.
- Monitor and report changes in children’s physical or emotional condition to appropriate staff members and participate in the development and review of care plans.
- Facilitate recreational and therapeutic activities with children’s, encouraging social engagement and participation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of care provided and progress, adhering to legal and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses, therapists, and social workers, to ensure holistic care for residents.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in the field of residential care.
- Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations governing the provision of care and support services in children’s residential homes.
- You must be willing to go above and beyond for the children and young people, ensuring that they have experience of a childhood that they can reflect upon and carry with them into adulthood.
- You will be confident with support plans and risk assessments and be able to complete a thorough handover to the rest of the team and management regarding the individual concerned in a positive, structured, and professional manner.

**Qualifications/Skills**
- NVQ Level 3 in children’s or working towards achieving NVQ level 3 in children’s.
- Two years prior experience working in a residential care setting or similar environment is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with residents, families, and colleagues.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to providing care and support to children’s/young people with diverse needs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of basic caregiving principles and techniques, including personal care and hygiene practices.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and willingness to learn and utilize electronic documentation systems.

**Working conditions**
- The role involves working in a residential children’s care setting, which may include assisting residents with mobility, lifting, and transferring.
- The position may require working long days 7am-7pm, evenings 7pm-7am and weekends/bank holidays depending on the needs of the service.

**Salary**: £12.50per hour
